Air bag light

7600 miles in and my air bag light is flashing. I hope this isn't going to be the level of quality during the life of me owning this car. It is one long and 2 short flashes. It did it the other day and then stopped. Now it's doing it every time I start the car. Considering that it's not just 'flashing' as the owners manual says, I'm assuming this is code for "fix: XXXXX" to the technicians but none of them want to talk to me. A gal bumped into my bumper a couple weeks ago (nothing serious...she's just a moron who likes to bumper-check to determine distance, I guess). I doubt this is a cause for it considering it was so long ago by comparison to when this started happening (about a week ago).

Does anyone know what the flashing means? At first I thought, "How messed up would it be if this thing went off while I was driving." Luckily, it hasn't.

Thanks for the help.

Is there a reason you can't take it to the dealer? The airbads aren't really something you should be fooling with.

i dunno why it is, but mine has been staying on when i start my ride up(but it goes out)...if you see what the problem is, shoot me an email

It's supposed to stay on for a little while when you start it up. How long is yours staying on? I think 2-3 seconds is normal.

i guess mine is normal then, i just never noticed it before maybe.

this is only a remote possibilt but if any open circiut is detected the ecu will send a signal to flash the the light. it has happened befor that you may have a rely stuck open or faulty module. take it to the dealer it s covered:D

damn i think this key board is sticking. i look like im in 1rst grade with all those spelling errors:rolleyes:

Mine did this a long time ago on a very cold day. After I shut off the car and restarted it, the problem never came back. I now have about 44K on it and no issues.

If you look in the owner's manual I believe it says something about it if you just want to make sure yours is staying on a normal amount of time. :D
