Aggressive fitment anyone?!

17x8 +40 won't have any real issues with like a 205 40 17. Might even be able to go 215. You'll be near fulsh though... like real flush not poke flush.

I see alot of people running aggressive wheel fitment. I wanted to know if anyone has tried to fit 245/40/17 on their protege. I wanted to run the that tire size with a set of 17x8 +40 wheels. Any thoughts? I know I will need some major fender rolling.
whats the reasoning behind trying to run such a big tire?

THread jack, i am looking at buying Subaru sti rims. they are 17x8 rims, will they fit on my protege es
im running toikos hp blues.

i currently have a set of 05+ BBS STI's about to go on my MP3.

im lowered 2.5" and the wheels are 5x114.3 17x8 +53 forged 18 pounds and i will be running 215/45

they need atleast 5mm spacers to clear the strut. and you have to get the hub bored out. which is 50+ $ per wheel

they are pretty tough to fit since i will barely be rolling fenders. i will have 2-3mm on either side of room with -2* of camber.

you can either get them bored out atleast 10mm to clear the rear hub and run the 5mm spacers or run a 20mm bolt on spacer like kauai did.

they arnt a bolt on and go wheel for the protege.

whoa whoa. im lost. please insight me. so if i buy the 05 sti rims and get low profile tires, i cant just run them. i need to alter a couple of things

to run them you would have to run a 215 or 225 in the back if you roll/pull.

if you roll your fenders you will have 10mm more room outwards to play with. im not rolling mine because they will rot up here in the winter.

after getting the wheels and tires you have 2 options: buy 20 or 25mm bolt on spacers to make them fit. the wheels a 33 or 28 offset respectively.

or you can choose what im doing. go to a shop and get the wheel hub bored out and run 5mm spacers(just to make the wheel clear the inside of the strut).

spacers will be around 150 plus tax or shipping. the hub boring and spacers for me will be around 300ish.

I did a bunch of measurements for hub boring depth and the STI's are thin around this area and can only go so deep before going through the front of the wheel.

let me make it easy to understand,
tire: 205/40 or 215/40
machining: machine hub bore out to fit protege
spacer: 5mm to clear strut
fender: rolled

I want to track the car often and I know having a proper tire is probably one of the best upgrades.

You'll probably feel more at home in this thread:

machining: machine hub bore out to fit protege
spacer: 5mm to clear strut

put a spacer in would make getting the wheels machined kinda pointless unless you were stupid enough to buy a spacer with a hub bore larger than the one on the wheel.

^^ the rear hub on the car is 14/15mm long. You can't machine the wheels that deep because They will be too thin if you want to run the centercap

Also a +53 on and 8 inch wide will hit the strut as you should know that with you FDs

So unless you want poke this is really the way to fit them

I have 225/40-18 Kumho Ecsta XS (very square profile close to a 235/40) on 8" with +40 in rear and +37 in the front. I am quite low but believe me it was alot of work to get things clearanced just right.

I think stepping up to a softer stickier 235/40 tire like the Ecsta XS which are unbelievable even at 350-400whp in a straight line and wouldn't be any less of an upgrade than a 245.

saw the exact wheels im going to get on a supra today...holy wow did they look good
if i get a job this summer, I am definately getting those bad boys

test fit for this summer...
16x7.5 et35 + 7mm spacer with 205/50r16

Did he do custom work on his quarter panel to get that 17x 9 +15 to fit so well ..his camber dont even look -7.. n mine is hella poking

Yeah Hung has custom rear fenders. Once I get my fitment down, I'll do a shoot with him. Our cars are like Ying and Yang haha
