well the title is kind of self explanitory, however, has it ever been tried?

Has anyone ever put an aftermarket sunroof into their car? I used to have a sunroof on my old car, and thats the ONLY thing I really miss.

I've seen like 2-3 MSP's with it. Looks like it fits into the car nicely, not out of place at all.

its like 900 from the dealer. That's probably the only place i would get it done because it will be warrantied.

I've been thinking about this for a while.

not to be bearer of bad news
but just want to make you aware of the problems of installing one
because i was in the market,
and IMO, the chances of leaking, not working properly etc....is much more hassle for me that i could bear. So, shop around, ask for lifetime warrenty and don't park in the open when it rains

Do a search. Dakidd on the forums (here in Raleigh) has one in his msp and looks amazing, has no leaks, and has a lifetime warranty. There are pictures somewhere.

Had mine for 4 years now. It never leaked but when we took out the liner to tweed it there was a small amount of water so it did have a tiny leak to it. The shop was the most recommended in town. I paid $250 and am still happy with it.

dealer isn't cheap but warranty would be nice

When I bought my P5 new, it didn't have a sunroof. I had the dealer out source one and have it installed. The sunroof retails for $2500 installed. I paid $1250 for it and I am very happy with it. It is much bigger than the stock one and it has one touch Open/close, tilt, and 2 setting for partial opening if you don't want it open all the way.

If you get it done, go to a shop that will warranty it.

warranty is the key!!
make sure that it is, granted it is more expensive
like at the dealer or something similar
but it is worth it IMO

Well looky looky us canadians do it better:

Apple Auto Glass, kempt road, Halifax
In response to your question about Aftermarket sunroof's yes we still do them.
We can't gaurentee it can be done on every car, however, I have done several Mazda protege's, therefore I'm sure I could. I would just have to move your dome light back some. Anyone who isn't farmiliar with your car will not be able to tell it's not stock.
I charge $350 plus tax for a regular sunroof that pops up and slides back, and $450 for the delux model with sunroof and moonroof panel inside that slides back as well as two garage door transmitter buttons. There are several models inbetween, you can pick what best suits you. I also do custom interiors. want leather? I can make it happen, however this is much more expensive.

I back my work with a lifetime warranty, for parts AND labour (leaking).

let me know if you want to set up an appointment so we can take a look at your car.

Needless to say i'm thrilled and very impressed. Now only to decide If I want it done now, or in the spring.

Cool beans. Also on the leather. I am looking at getting leather done by Northwest Autoworks. They are in canada. I may be setting up a group buy for that.

I would say shop around and don't go cheap on it. They're cutting a big hole on your roof and once it's done that's it.

damnit, i need something like that here in oregon. i wanna get a sunroof installed in my 1st gen pro, but no idea where to get it done, can a dealer do it still?????
