aftermarket alarm

Hi, anyone have good aftermarket alarms to recommend? I love my car but its alarm just plain suck. :(

I will be installing a viper 5901 very shortly. Gotta do that before I start my stereo install but I was hoping for a transponder bypass to become available that wouldn't make me give up a key before I did. You can't beat Viper's quality (Python and Clifford are the same thing). I recommend a two away system so you know what's going on with your car.

Are you going for the Mobile app remote start too? Do you know if that'll void the electrical system's warranty or not?

It will only void a warranty if the alarm install can be linked to the problem. If it is installed properly...you will have nothing to worry about. I got mine in and everything is good except I have no remote start yet. Mine is the SST 2-way system with "one mile" range. I like using a remote and don't see myself adding SmartStart to it for use with my phone.

From what I've heard, Mazda dealerships will claim that this aftermarket stuff has caused problems if anything happens in case. I have a heavy electrical system on board w/Tech package. The problem is the Mazda engine start is expensive and doesn't have any groundbreaking features whereas viper meets all my needs.

My dealer knows me and will not try that garbage. There is legislation that says they must prove your install caused whatever proem has arisen. The thing with this stuff is that it doesn't cause problems over time...it usually either works or it doesn't...and if it doesn't, the installer would be the first to know. Except Altimas...we had an Altima get stupid after 3 days...burned up the BCM. We begged the dealer not to have us put it on...the car was push button start and they were notorious for going stupid in the early years of pbs.

I have an Avital remote start installed. But just like NCMazda6 said you do have to give up one remote for it to work. It works well and from quite a distance. You do have to carry the Avital remote with the Mazda key fob. But you only use the Avital remote when you use the remote start. It was a little confusing at first until I learned exactly how it all worked. I can tell you the Mazda remote start is awful. I had it installed first when I bought the car but it wouldn't start until I was within 30-50 feet and could see the vehicle. And then once you opened the door or trunk the car would shut off and you would have to start it again. It was very frustrating and Mazda didn't have a fix for it. So I had it taken off and the Avital installed. Very happy with the Avital.

After all the fuss, I got the Mazda remote engine start system, firtly I don't want my spare keyfob to be in the car all the time and secondly don't want to go into the hassle of dealing with warrantly issues in the future whatever be the case. I guess paying a bit extra is the safest option. However the Mazda engine start works great when your car is in an open space and not a deck or being blocked by big walls. Rest has been okay.

AZFlyin, do you have any idea which transponder bypass module they used with your Avital? The only one that I can find that says it works with a 2014 is a Fortin, which still requires a key under the dash. I have never messed with them at all, we deal strictly in DEI and they don't have anything yet. I figure I will install the Fortin until someone comes out with one that will allow me to keep both keys.
