the eye basicly passed right over my house this morning, 75mph sustanined, and 85-90mph gusts of fun. No damage here though, thankfully. Neighbor lost a few trees, and shingles, but we faired great.

Brick houses w/ metal roof > hurricane.

wow. i ask- WHY do people live down there- they KNOW they will have to rebuild time and time again....

I love FL, but for the hurricanes, its just not worth all the loss.

christ.... yeah. i totally agree with you pd, my parents just moved to the pensacola area, they live in navarre. i have no clue why they decided to move their, i just got back from visiting them on wednesday. it rained everyday i was there, 4 days. we couldnt even go in the beach cause it was red flagged all over. id never live in florida, ever.

why do people live in california or japan with the earthquakes?
why do people live in michigan when you have to put on snow tires every year and then take them off.
why do people live in third world countries.
heck, why do people live in mobile homes.

stupid question.

for your information we don't have to "rebuild time and time again". the west coast of florida has probably (i am not sure) never been struck by a hurricane before. and the last time south florida got hit was in 1992. when a strong hurricane comes along, s*** gets messed up. but it doesn't mean that everything gets destroyed and that everything needs to be rebuilt time and time again.
