AFC Version II GB

ok...I've talked to about 5 different engineers at microcrap...and the verdict is that there is nothing I can do on my end of things to have the afc correctly register commas and decimals at the same time on differen language versions of windows. So french guys will just have to take warning and realize you'll need to be careful of the difference before customizing your map. This does not affect american windows users. The units were shipped out this morning so you should have them sometime next week. Be a little patient, though, as I'm sure this silly hurricane is bound to delay UPS/USPS in some way. Those who were not on the original GB, yes you can still get either version. NO YOU CANNOT GET THE GB PRICE. I have a very limited suplly left on hand, so if you want one please send me and EMAIL with the information indicated on the 1st page of this thread. Talrum, your unit did ship out with the rest, b/c I seem to remember getting money from you, but I'm still trying to track down the paper trail as its not showing up on paypal invoicing yet(sometimes the invoices we get are delayed a week or so). If I didn't I'll rely on good faith that you'll still pay, hehe ,even though your afc is already on its way :).

For those of you who call me. Please leave a message, often times I have my hands full physically and am unable to pick it up, leaving me a message guarantees that I will give you a call back...

Thank you thank you thank you!

Britt

britt and dennis you have PMs...Everyone I just realized that someone, cough cough, forgot to put in the instructions for the extra battery connection that is in the version II boxes...so when I find where I, err i mean someone, put them I'll post up the instructions on this thread and on the website...sigh and I apologize for both the omission and the delayed shipping...definitely not the way I like to conduct business...also as a very preliminary update, I'm currently working on a way to integrate digital gauge outputs into the afc logging bank...primarily a way to integrate EGTs...this is still very early but just thought I'd give you guys a teaser taste of things to come...

Bump... got mine in the mail yesterday. What do I do with those extra connections?

Got mine in the mail today. Looks great. Just waiting to see what to do with the extra 5v inputs (i'm guessing we use the included grey/white wire for monitoring voltage somehow)

Yeah, I figured theorange ones out, but I'm holding off install for the gray and white

I was hoping to install tonight. Might just have to skip the extra options for right now, and get the rest of it working.

hmm...well I was sure I had already posted...but I guess something happened to the post...ok the extra 3 wire gizmo is for the battery monitoring connection. I wasn't sure how many people were going to use it so I couldn't just solder it directly on. Ok first off the extra data acquistion wires are not necessary for the afc to function, they are just there for those of you utilizing the battery and/or wideband logging features. To log the battery voltage you will need to put the 3-wire addition between the battery and the afc at some point along the input wires. The wire with the black collar is the output wire and will attach to the afc end of the connection. The plain grey wire needs to be grounded and the third wire goes to the battery positive terminal. As soon as I get the pics off my digi camera I will upload them to the website for those of you who are picture oriented. If you have any questions feel free to email, or call me. The wideband connection requires no intermediate connection as all current production wideband units output within the specified range for the afc. That means you can hook the wideband output DIRECTLY to your afc loggin input. On the r4 software end of things you can either view and log the actual voltage input or you can use the upconverter feature to convert it to actual numbers such as 12.7 and so on that you are used to seeing.

Well I got everything wired up tonight. Just a warning, check the map that is loaded on your AFC before you go for a drive. Mine had a messed up map on it, that had 0's set for fuel at about 3 and 4k RPM's at 2lbs of boost. Obviously, the car didn't like that.

I loaded up the Super MAP from the website, and all is good. Just double check before you take it out.

A few pointers for people that helped me. Take the tape off the wire bundle, along with the plastic cover on the plug. This way you can see the numbers on the plug for the wires. Helps a lot. My black wire was actually black and Red, and I was going crazy trying to find a just black wire. Took the cover off , counted the pins, and I was good to go.

For those of you out there that are curious, I actually switched from a Unichip over to this. The unichip is obviously easier to install, but the AFC is by no means hard. However, the Map that John has made is far and away MUCH MUCH better than the map I had on my unichip. Its not even close. It feels like a different car going from the unichip to the AFC. And you can tune around your mods, and its Cheaper!

If you had a doubt, don't. Get the AFC, its worth it!

When I install this, do I remove me voltage clamp and FMU? I'm going to use my 440CC injectors...

The map on mine seems fine so far. My only complaint is that when I downshift to slow down, the injectors seem to keep firing because my w/b O2 sensor doesn't turn off.. hmmm?

maxx...I think I got your email...our server crashed over weekend so we just finished recovering everything...weirdzen which version did you get? Every afc is supposed to be checked before going to customers, so if this is a version problem and not just an isolated event someone on my end is going to get reemed for not doing their job...Also what settings were you using in the drop down menu(you should of made changes to the setting before viewing the maps as the stock r4 defaults are not calibrated to view the fuel/boost/rpm interactions).
