AFC-SplitSecond PSC1 Map Library

If someone wants to send me a non-mazdaspeed protege 2.0L ecu, i can probably get a decent map going for that with the stock and the 440 cc injectors. Although I might end up keeping your ecu :D

You had me willing to help until the last sentence :p I've been debating for some time about switching back to my P5 ECU to take advantage of the timing out-of-boost. I've just lost too much bottom end with the 626 IM, etc. I need to get my hands on an FTV first as I doubt that timing would be good at 10 psi at peak torque.

O2 sensor weak ground, any disruption (installation of SS-AFC put your ecu grounding system at its limits) of the o2 ground will cause an issue (output a full .9mV super rich - vehicle will try to lean it out),an O2 element creates voltage (the reference for it is the ground - mess with the ground the element has nothing to bring the voltage back down with),

testing : with an ohm meter and volt meter, measure resistance from engine block to neg battery should not exceed 15 Ohms, also take a voltage reading with vehicle off, from the battery terminals say its 12.3 volts..... Take a reading from the positive terminal on battery to (ground) the engine block, difference should not be greater than 1 volt.

Also, Take a reading from the positive terminal on battery to (ground) the ecu ground by the drivers side strut tower bolt with a white multi-connector, difference should not be greater than .5 volt.

If it is check ground connections, clean connections, you may have to use a wire brush on the eyelets of the washer-wire connectors.

Unless there is a breach in the connections inside your AFC, that could cause some back feed causing similar symptoms, but I would assume the unit wouldn't power up if that were the case.

Thanks for the info! Looks like this is my root cause of the problem:

Sorry for eternally long time between my last posts/questions for those interested in the followup to my situation (severe running rich at idle while AFC installed). The time I've had to dedicate to this over the past months has been severely limited. Ken had great dialogue with me....and it was determined I should send it in to SplitSecond so they could diagnose my unit. Mark at SplitSecond was awesome at discussing with me over the phone how to further diagnose as well (use of scan tool, voltmeter, etc). My unit tested out fine at SplitSecond HQ by Mark, so now I just need to reinstall again & test my ground connections really good.

Out of curiosity - I have a grounding kit on my car, and have my wideband grounded to the same location as one of the kit wires to ensure good ground contact. Should I consider using one of these grounding points with the AFC as well (using the same grounding point instead of off the ECU harness)?

I have a fmic, supermap, cat back exhaust, and mbc which spikes to 10 but settles at about 7 under full throttle. So, nothing too out of the ordinary. Anyone else with an AFC experiencing seemingly random (albeit rare) problems with what feels like a fuel cut under full throttle around 4-5K RPM's?

Example: I was on the highway last weekend and came to a toll stop, and then got on it to get back up to speed, but at 4-5K rpms in 1st or 2nd gear (don't remember which one I was in) it choked completely and my check engine light came on. I was able to still drive it under granny throttle for several hours, and then the CEL went off the next day, and it ran fine again. This has happened to me maybe 6-7 times over the past couple years.
Anyone else? thoughts?

Quick question.. is the option to load a map onto the software only available when you are in the Real Time thing (computer connected to AFC)?

I'm having the same issue as someone else did with connecting to the AFC from my computer, I installed the drivers, etc but it still won't connect. What type of cable has worked with the AFC? Certain brand that people have used?

I have Belkin i think its called, USB to DB9 Male.. with the software.. works great, a little expensive at $40.. at least for me.. but it works

My bet is that you relocated your MAF. Change it back to stock location!

How long did the ECU take to reprogram itself for your 440cc injectors, guys?

I installed mine today and took them out an hour later. The off boost driveability is basically non existant.

It's that bad eh? What 440cc map did you try? What about lowering the trigger point in the settings to like -1vac or more instead of the usual 1psi starting point?

yea you can on load maps when you computer is connected to it and your engine cant be running so there is no one the fly tuning you have to pull over to do it

most of those cables dont work with vista btw so make sure you get one that does i just bought one from radio shack cost me 36$

Okay, thanks :D Just got me a laptop, so hopefully once I get the right cable I'll be ready to go.

is it just me? or does the supermap...not....do...anything? If you look at the fuel map for that file it starts reducing fuel injection at like 15 psi the range is stock everything til the range 15-30psi? or am i missing something. Because if thats taking fuel out at that psi, just even starting to its doing nothing

^^^ You must not be looking at the correct map. Although mine is severely modified, I recall that the supermap started making changes immediately at like 1-2 psi.

Can someone sort of walk me through of how to load a map? I have it downloaded onto my computer, and I have connected to my ECU.. when I go into Fuel Maps it will allow me to read from ECU and write to ECU.. but I don't see anywhere to load a map.
