AFC-SplitSecond PSC1 Map Library

Can someone help me out with connecting to ECU? I installed FTC today. soldered all connections. Have a Dynex usb2serial from BB with driver software installed. Went into device manager to match ports. Im using Vista if that matters. Car fired up the first time and drives great.I just can not get the ecu to connect. Is there something im missing? Help!
Thanks,

stupid question but have you tried all the ports??, i know mine works on port 4.

hey fatti, what PSI do you run you GT28RS? and you on stock internals still?

i have my perrin MBC set at 10.2 lol, that is what the SSAFC is set at, but for someone after a lil driving it drops to 9.2, and i am on stock internals.

and sssshhhhhhhhhhh theirs no such thing as zoom zoom boom

i connected to a diff vac line and my vacuum still maxes out around -6 while the boost gauge reads a steady 8 psi. the purple is the wideband, the green is the vacuum, and the red is the rpm level. (help)

So today i decided to jump back from the "Custom Update 1" from Fudgie to the "SuperStockMap" from DSMConvert. So i took it for a drive and in 3rd gear around 4-5k rpms i get really bad hesitation. Like the car is choking. With the customupdate1 i had very minor hesitation and at most time no hesitation. My question is should i just drive around alittle and wait for my ecu to catch on to the Superstockmap. Im going to drive it around for a week and see if the hesitation continues.

i really dont think the ecu will learn anything, but im not 100% sure. im using the sumpermap9psi map and i made the most power with that map with my mods and i tried both of those maps.

On my way to work tonight. When i got on the freeway 3rd gear seemed okay now. But when i shifted to 4th holy s*** i got really bad hesitation. Im at 7.5 psi and i got 1 step colder plugs. Can it be my plugs? Ill check them tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated.

fatti03msp - Im not sure how my car would react to 9psi but at 7.5 its im getting really bad hesitation. My mod list is in my sig. Any suggestions dude?

Before i jump back to the customupdate1 one i want to figure out whats causing this issue.

the beauty of the AFC is that the ECU doesn't learn anything if it did, then that means it;ll learn it's way around it.

you should take it to a dyno and tune there, as one map would do wonders for one user, it might not do anything or even will actually do damage to another.
elevation, temperatures and mods affect the map in so many ways, the quality of gas does too.

i say dyno tune it and create your very own custom map

Okay drove it to work tonight. And very minimal hesitation plus i didnt really smash on it 'too much' tonight. So yea i think the ecu worked around it a bit. Im just waiting to get my hotpipe, mbc and wideband and ill take it to get tuned and dynod. thanks.

Ok, so I finally got around to installing the SS AFC and I am having problems. I have a feeling the stock map that came on the unit was completely wrong. Before I explain, I bought this unit brand new from ProtegeGarage so I know its not used and previously tampered with.

So the map that was loaded on the unit was all over the place with its values. Map A (fuel) was almost completely 10's until around 2.2v to 2.8v and the values varied between 0-20, with the values changing between 500-4000rpm.

Map B (Timing) also had some very strange values starting at 2.2v as well. As the voltage increased the values increased as well going up to 20 at the highest point. On a side note, I downloaded the SuperMapStock and realized that there were all 0's in the Map B.

This seemed very strange to me and my car would start but as soon as I would get into boost it would get serious hesitation. Should I try the SuperMapStock and see what happens or is there a way to download the correct normal stock map that is loaded on the unit, we already had to change values in order to get the car to drive.

Mods that I have:

Custom FMIC and hardpipes
Forge BOV
Custom 3" turboback
Colder Plugs
Replaced actuator (Runs at about 7.5-8psi)

Thanks for any help, at least my car is driving but I really want this to work. BTW, we are using a wideband (Zeitronix) to read our A/F and boost values.

Mike

hey guys i have a 03 msp with the following mods, wastegate, MAM fmic, front motor mount, short ram intake, SSAFC, J pipe back exhaust no cats(stock cat back), boost gauge and a wideband. what map would you all recommend?

^^^ Start with supermap and go from there. No one map is going to be perfect for you right out of the box.

did u get it fixed?

Have any of you guys used this on a turboed automatic trans protege? If so what map are you using. I got it running on my turboed automatic and it works fine using the map that was preloaded from split second. Just curious to see if anyone has changed their map for an auto.

Hey, im just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem that im having, i tried to connect my labtop to my ssafc last night using the DB9 cable-connecting to the DB15 port on my labtop, i was only able to find a "Com 3" port that was able to "attempt" to connect, after trying for about 30min to connect, checking the connection, trying with the car on/off/electric only on, i went back to my room and found out that the Com 3 port is really my internet connection, so my connection to the ECU wasn't even showing up, i know they were both connected securly, and i just bought the cable.. is there something that i could have missed, or is there a setting on my labtop that prevented me from connecting, only thing i can think of that changes when i go onto battery life is when my internal network card shuts down for more battery life.. but i dono what affects these things.. can someone please help, it would be great, i would love to try to get this going and get some maps soon..thanks

quick question. Who do I email the dyno sheet to in order to get a new map. I cant find the software anywhere. And I have a dyno date the end of the month. And the dude with the dyno doesnt tune.

hmm, I know this might be the wrong thread to ask it on(posted also on the install thread), but really?.. no one can say anything about connecting to the computer and ECU, im at a loss for ideas at what the problem might be. (reference to my original post)
-hopefully i can get something after a little longer, it is still pretty early on a weekday.

if using windows vista, look for me on MSN
alejo_nin@ hotmail . com

we can do remote and i'll see how your settings look.

Ok, so i was finally able to hook it up to my labtop, (after a $45 cable connector) and i did 3 trials in 3rd gear, recordings showed that the a/f was like the map, staying at 10 until about 1.5lbs of boost, then the whole way up it goes from 9.9 and stays at 9.6-9.7 until i release throttle?.. im just wondering if im reading these maps right.. the values are the air/fuel ratio? and after looking at other maps, they dont seem to differ very much at all, and my guess is that the values in the computer through the afc is different from the wideband values.. so really, even if i ever really wanted to tweak anything, i should/would need a wideband sensor?.. if a couple people could just summarize what im looking at, and what regular values i want to see, and what people actually change when they tune their maps, would be great, just so i have an idea of whats going on..
thanks
-I reread the tuning on SS, my bad, i thought that the R4 showed the a/f ratios somewhere, but i see that's where the wideband comes in.. made more sense after i figured it out.
