AEM F/IC writeup

I just have to say, thank god for jdwk experimenting with the FIC and explaining all of his research in plain English lol. Like you said, this thread is rather drawn out in terms of the information gathered and does seem a bit confusing. I am not an expert on this unit and because I sold mine, I never will be. For the money, it was a very good unit with much better features than the SSAFC. However, our ECU really sucks and just likes to fight away piggyback's. The ultimate solution for our bad ECU is simply to take it out of the equation. I know for some that it is not an option, as I daily drive this car so I completely understand.

I don't want to sound demanding, but if a knowledgeable tuner that has experience with this unit ever feels like compiling the key information that I don't have covered in the first post, I will gladly update it. If I find the time to root through 27 pages, I just might do it myself.

could i use this unit to tune my motor while its non-turbo too? does this unit allow decrease in fuel and timing advance/retard? would it even be worth it non-boosted? i ask because im running rich as is and it would be nice to be able to squeeze a bit of power out of it while i save up for my turbo setup.

Yes but if I were you I would just wire it and then tune with the turbo!

I have mine wired up, but could get the FIC to connect to my computer. I am getting a Framing and Parity error. If any of you guys knows what is wrong let me know, I will be working with AEM as well, but it is a little slow.

Secondly, I will be running hi boost with 565cc injector. Anybody have a map they could donate me to get started? Would be great help

Wade

Framing and parity error is in your USB/serial port. Sounds like you might be having problems with the USB drivers.

I have downloaded everything. Did a search on the issue and did everything that everyone else has and still no luck. Probably a junk FIC.

Don't give up that easy. I remember having that error before, but I can't remember exactly what the cause was. Did you load the USB drivers BEFORE you connected the FIC for the first time? I'm not just talking about hitting the "connect" button, I mean you need to load them before connecting the cable at all.

More info plz. Did u have to use resistors?
Yes he should have if done properly.. I have the corrected schematic/ pinout which i can email you!! Also it's a 1.1k Resistance, i used one 1,000 resistor and another 100 resistor. part number for the 100ohm resistor is 271-152, Part number for the 1k ohm resistor is 271-153. Both are the radio shack brand resistors. Color band code is gold, red, blue, light brown.

K so in theory The spreadsheet that is available on the first page is correct. I got the emails and ive got the pictures and i have the spreadsheet and comparing all three everything looks the same.

Finally got my FIC installed for my tune on sunday soo we will see how it goes. I havent turned the car over cause i have to change the powersteering pump first. but the car will hopefully idle somewhat with the FIC plugged in

alright soo upon intial starting of the car... The car bogs like crazy. Its asking me to rev my car to 69xx rpm to calibrate the car. Is that correct?

Seems to me like thats asking for problems
