Advise for Strut Bar

I want to do something about my front Strut bar. Blue car with a bright @$$ red strut bar.

I either want to replace the strut bar under the hood with some type of silver or chrome looking strur bar but I can't seem to find a company that makes one and I'm not sure what size to go with if I could fine one.

If I can't find one I want to paint the existing one. Should I sand blast it first to remove the red or can I just paint over the red?

Any advice is appreciated.

have you check with AWR they make an adjustable one with a polished center section. if you wanted to paint the existing one, just sand it down good with some 320 or 400 grit sandpaper then wipe it down with mid-temp reducer or mineral spirits.

POWDER COAT IT.....it will be much more durable and resist any chiping from tools and what not if you are working under the hood. you can get it chromed if you really want to as well. Just check out the yellow pages in your area.

Powder coating. Didn't think of that. Regular paint and body shop should be able to this correct? My friend's dad owns a body shop! cheap labor.

Maybe...maybe not...depends on whether or not they are set up to do that kind of coating....never hurt to ask though....

DG Motorsports has a Carbon Fiber Strut brace...

they make a chrome strut bar and the ends come in blue, yellow or red.

Sweet. Thanks. That is a little more of the price I was looking at too. The CF one looks really nice but..... $$$$$$$$ cha-ching!!!

I guess I could sell a kidney!

Powdercoating is cheap. I almost got some motorcycle rims done, and they only wanted $50 each. I bet a strut bar is less than that.

Check your local phone book.

If you want to powder coat it, it must be stripped completely or adhesion won't be complete.

Man if you lived next door to me I could get it coated for free, the company I work for has a powder coating line. My car is red, and the stock strut bar is red so...

Do not spend any money on an aftermarket strutbar, it will NOT make any handling difference, it would look better I admit, but not worth the price.
