hello texas!

i was wondering if anyone who lived in the dallas area, or anyone in texas for that matter, could help me out a bit. i am about to purchase a front bumper from aabp for my car. they are a salvage yard, so i'm kinda sketched.

anyway, has anyone dealt with them? good? bad? okay? how was their product? also, if someone in dallas has any free time, can you just kind of swing down to aabp and check it out for me? i'll be forever in your debt. thank you again very much.

hope i'm not invading your hood... i don't have any of my army in texas yet. ok, talk to you all later!

That place is pretty close to LinuxRacr and Pirana. I think LinuxRacr might actually pass by the place on one of his routes to and from work.

I MIGHT be passing right by that place on Saturday on my way to the tracks. I will let you know if I can make it by Saturday if nobody else makes it before then.

tonkabui, LinuxRacr just called me for the address of the place so I think he is checking the bumper out for you right now. :D

omg... i owe you all a huge favor. i think this calls for a drive down to texas soon. when's your next meet? and how far is dallas from, say, tucson, arizona?

I been to check out that place before for some other guys in CA. I was looking at specific pieces (front bumper assembly) for them. Here's a copy of my response...

I went to the shop and looked at both of these plus a white one, a lighter blue one (like MP3) and a yellow one. Every one had surface scratches that rubbed off, or looked like they could be removed with a little paint cleaner. All three blue ones, and the white also had light scratches into the plastic itself. The yellow one was the floor model and was the only one that I didn't see any scratches or dents.

I'd say if your current bumper is falling off and you want something to tide you over until you get a body kit, or just something that will fit fine and look good except on close inspection any of these will be fine.

If you are wanting something that looks perfect or you plan to
show your car I'd spend the money on a new one. None of these are perfect and on close inspection you'll find flaws in them all. If I had a yellow car and needed one now I might buy that one, but I wouldn't pay to repaint it. I'd personally just save a bit more and get a new one to have the peace of mind. Those little scratches and grooves, while they're not a big deal, they are the kind of thing you notice every time you wash your car and I think it would bug me enough I'd regret not saving and getting a perfectly new one....

If you're looking for perfect show pieces with no flaws whatever, go somewhere else. If you want a product that has about 1-2 years of normal wear and you're ok with that then this place is ok.

thank you all very much. you've been a great help. i promise to make a meet before i move away from tucson, and a round of ale on me!
