Actually getting 400 miles each tank?

I have sportauto with 95k on it, drive 65 or so 2/3 frwy 1/3 city mixed and pull 400 like clockwork. Did 425 the last tank and filled it with 13.5 gallons which = 31.48. I have K&N SRI, all lightened pulleys except AC, UDP, VTCS removed, 1.8 coils, ZFR5 plugs, OBX header, 2.25" hi flo Magnaflow catted/flexed midpipe, 2.25 Magnaflow catback/muffler & atf cooler. This is running AC all the time using 87 reg unl & M1 syn oil/purolator micronic filter & AMSOIL atf.

That doesn't look right, 37mpg would put you at almost 500 miles. The Fuelly list gives you 30.7 MPG average. Must have been a typo.

Well...it was technically 36.6 MPG on that particular tank. I filled up at 416.2 miles on the tripometer and it took 11.38 gallons to fill up.

what is your average ?
Im in FL as well and cannot average any higher than 30 with 75/25 mixed.

Those with ZFR5 long reach NGKs smooth the idle a bit, gets the coils off the top of the motor but mostly just looks different. There's a 626 valve cover that eliminates the coil mounting holes, has shorter fill neck that cleans up the look too but I'm still using the MSP vc with engine cover thing so it covers those anyway. Kind of a dare to be different or personal preference thing more than anything else.

Wow that is amazing, I think it is also the best on fuelly.com for any of the P5's.

I filled up again today and got 410 miles. I may try and see if I can push it by going with mid-grade gas next time and see if I could get more. Hmmmm, our 7 and 8 year old P5's are getting better gas mileage than our newer cousins. That is short lived until the Mazda3 gets the new Skyactive engine.

I Get way worse mileage lol although my foots pretty much always in it last tank was 22.6mpg filled 305 miles and 13.47 gallons

i get a little over 400 miles per tank with all highway driving, and about 28-30mpg mixed driving.

I'm getting 24-27 with AC with mixed driving and aggressive techniques (regularly heel-toe downshift, harder acceleration off the line). No mods yet (K&N CAI sitting in the box waiting to get installed).

Has anyone taken the roof rack off the '02 P5 and noted a difference with the reduced drag?

Im getting about 500ish kms and i fill up at 1/4 to get more consistent readings. Whenevei do drive they are 15-20 min drives in the city. Winnipeg winter kills any chance of hitting factory fuel mileage ratings. I remember he one day it was -47 degrees celcius and the engine never fully warmed up.

How far off the suggested fuel economy ratings are you?

I used to get between 320 and 340. This tank the gas light came on at 365 and I didn't even top it off like usual

I still dont see how some of you are saying 400mpt.
Ive been really watching my acceleration and doing a lot of coasting (both engine on/off), timing stop lights so I dont come to a complete stop, drafting... pretty much every trick in the book with a drive down to my mothers (93 miles 1 way) and my best is still close to 10 miles less than 400mpt.

I have been tracking my fill ups using an app since about may and these are my results:
2 fill-ups that i got 7.67 and 7.69 L/100km or 30.5 mpg
My average is 9.05 L/100km or 26 mpg
Worst has been 11.70 L/100km or 20 mpg but

I have only had 7 fill-ups and aside from the one 20 mpg fill all have been better then 9.70 L/100km or 24 mpg

my average, as you can see in my sig, is 29.7mpg, with almost 85% city driving through all the logs. but my tanks never have netted me even up too 400. granted, that tank that I got 392mpt I could probably have pushed that up into the 400mpt range, but I feel I shouldnt have to "push" it to reach that in the first place.

are you using an ultragauge or scangauge to monitor? you may think that spending $150 seems backasswards but it'll really tell you your instantaneous fuel economy so you can see what sucks gas and what sips it
something to look into

oh yea, Ive had an SGII for almost 2 months now.
but I have to have it re-calibrated, this last tank of gas netted me a meager 28.03 mpg but the SGII always read 30+ avg, so its off quite a bit.

Don't second guess yourself.
Got 36 mpg hwy last week doing 75 down 1-5 in CA. Royal purple synthetic, chevron gas, and aem intake. 205/40/17's might throw that a bit off, but I even got 38mpg once doing 65.
