Anyone who has had their front strut dust boots replaced under warranty, have you inspected the abs wire harness to see if the clips that hold it to the front struts are still intact?
I was changing over to my winter tires and servicing the brakes and found that the technicians at my Mazda dealer had broke the tabs holding the ABS wire harness in place on both front wheels and zip tied them back in place. This was done when they were replacing the strut boots. It looks as though they left the struts in place and broke the abs harness clips since I didn't need an alignment afterwords.
I've taken it back to the dealer to ask why they did this and they are telling me that the zip ties are fine and they use them for all sorts of things. Then, in order to fix the clips they broke, they need to replace the entire wire harness. To me that makes no sense since the clips, when you look at them, they will split apart and unclip from the wire with a screwdriver...
So is there a way to get just the clips for the abs harness or do I need to request they replace the harness and do the repairs right?
To me it's a lazy shortcut and just not taking care of my car like I would expect. It's small, but it feels like it was trying to be hidden since it's in an area you normally wouldn't look in. It's like fixing something with duct tape and just shrugging when someone asks about it.
