FYI Found it myself - here's how
Blink Code #47 turned out to be a bad left rear ABS sensor. To find out how to get the blink codes out of the car's computer consult Alldata at the library. I replaced the sensor and both ABS and E-brake lights are now off. For anyone interested, here's how to diagnose the problem: Remove the rear seat and rear wheel well moulding to find the ABS sensor plug on the inside of the wheel well. Disconnect the ABS plug and measure the resistance of the sensor, and then have the car on a jackstand and turn the wheel 1 revolution per second. Per Alldata, the voltage while the wheel is turning should be .25 to 1.25 volts. The resistance of the rear sensors with the wheel stationary should 1.3 to 1.7 Kohm. My sensor had 1 ohm resistance indicating a short, and produced only .025 volts. Once you figure how to get the plastic moulding off, the repair is pretty easy and the savings huge. I bought the new sensor from Montgomery Mazda online. The price was right and the service excellent! Hope this helps someone.
