I have seen a couple of pics of some you guys only using one fan on your rad, hopefully this will not be to confusing but if your in front of the car and looking at the windshield, the fan on the left is the one that i see alot ppl remove. I have a GT28RS and i really want to put a filter on the end of my turbo or run a really short 3" SRI, So i was wondering about 2 things.

1. This is a stupid ? but i dont have my car with right know and i never checked it out, but which one pulls and which one pushes, and is it ok to just have one fan and you will not have trouble overheating in traffic.

2. What fans have some of you guys used, as in size and make, i dont want to spend a bundle of money on fans i just want somethign to give me more room and not have to worry about overheating.

Thanks for taking your time and reading this novel lol, hopefully it made some sense.(thumb)

Be careful if you still plan on having A/C. The A/C will require two fans. If you only use one, the A/C will be warm at idle because half of the condensor will be cool and the other half will be warm. You can also potentially damage the compressor as well.

i have only used my A/C once and that was sitting at the track on a very hot day, i have been thinking of even ripping it out, just havent looked into it, but thanks for the info.

The only thing you can do is to make a new fan shroud that covers the entire radiator, which will draw air across the condensor correctly.

so if i want to get new fans.....which is the best size...12...14???? which setup is best??? i mean can i use one push attached to the condenser and one pull attached to the rad???....help

i think i figured this out lol, so the fan on the left when you are facing the car is for the AC and the fan on the right is for the rad??? yes im an idiot.

you're talking about the passenger side rad fan. i have that one off as well because...............well it don't work. anyway, i got a new pass pad fan from overniteautoparts.com, stock replacment for 87 bucks shipped.

Spal slim fans... one "pusher" and one "puller". As you can guess, one goes on one side of the radiator and the other goes on the other side. They seem to do the job for me. Our cars do run hot and the stock radiator is thinner and smaller than the P5's and the stock fan spins too slow to be really that effective. You can thank Mazda/Ford for that bit of great engineering and shotcut.

ya i have seen alot of guys with the spal fans it just seems alot for just fans, its like 250 for the fans, 50 more bucks and i could get the PG intake mani, i was just trying to see if anyone has found thin fans that are alot cheaper.

You might find some flex a lite's for cheap, but fans are one of those things you don't skimp on. I have ap uller and a pusher, and I get wicked cool temps.

so your saying that your cars temp is lower with the the better fans???, does the thermestat control that.

So you guys are saying the passenger side fan is the fan that goes on when AC goes on? That's weird, it was the other way around in my Lancer. Any ways, if you want to replace your fans I have a good solution for you. Pusher fans work better than pulling fans, only issue is you'll have to remove the front bumper to install them. 10" is the suggested size if you do this because of the limited space between the radiator support beams. If you want to just replace the stock puller fans you can go with 12" (maybe even 14", might be wise to measure your stock fans). Below are some links, I have used these fans in the past and present and they work great. They are universal, in the sense that wiring them one way makes the pushers while wiring the opposite way makes them pullers (only two wires).

12" Electric Fan
14" Electric Fan

Yes, should also mention that I'm runnign the Mazdaspeed B-Spec low temp thermostat as well, but my point is that the fans despite being smaller than stock actually cool the car better becase of their non-bad design.

Maxx Mazda is correct, it all has to do with the CFM rating of the fans. The higher the CFM rating the better the fan will do in cooling your car down.

I have been thinking of using that thermostat, know did you notice a difference since you engine would running cooler or is it more of a supporting if you have your car pretty dame built, cuase if i remember correctly you car is pretty built.

Thanks for links man i will def. look into these, also im assuming that they are alot thinner then the stock ones in the car.

I'd say they are about 1" thick, I can check more closely when I get home and get a ruler out, but they are a lot thinner.

alright cool i really want to have a filter at the end of my turbo and to not have any piping, that is what i was originally trying get out of this until i found out how bad the stock fans are lol.
