A/C Recharge Kit (worked for me!)

did you make sure to turn your A/C on to the max setting and then constantly shake the can as you're pouring it in?

Hi there... I did turn the AC to max setting, but I didn't constantly shake the can as I was pouring it in, I didn't know I needed to do that... Doesn't say that on the instructions....

Are you sure?

If you bought one that comes with the hose on the can already there's a thing on the can that you have to remove so it will puncture it & allow the freon out of the can. Mine had a little white ring in between the hose & can. Had to unscrew the hose, remove the ring then put it back.

The hose is not already connected to the can...

I don't think that is what it is because if the hose is NOT attached to the coupler on the low pressure side, it comes out of the can, but as soon as it is connected to the low pressure coupler, it stopes flowing... strange... but it makes me think there is a blockage...

Any ideas?

Have you tried pushing the pin in the center of the port on the car without the hose on it to see if it will release any? Or connect the hose to the port but not to the can.

I have pushed the pin on the port, and it does release some... I haven't tried putting the hose on the port and not the can, I will try that today....

It that doesn't work, does my blockage in the line idea sound totally wrong?

I just tried putting the hose on the port and NOT on the can, and it works... so there is something preventing the flow goign from the can to the port...

Does anybody know if I am supposed to be shaking the can??

I had the same problem. Nothing came out of the can. What I realized was that I needed to loosen the connection between the hose and the can. So I unscrewed the hose slowly and I can hear the gas escaping from the hose.

I tried that, but when I unscrew slowly, I am pretty sure that all I hear is gas escpaping from the can, not from the hose... did you have that problem as well?

Make sure that you open the valve at the end of the hose and THEN try loosening the connection at the can. Somewhere between nothing coming out and gas escaping from the can, you should hear gas escaping from the hose. That was my problem. Try and let us know...

ya shake the can as you do it.
it could also be that the pressure guage thingy is defective?!?(shrug)

I figured it out guys... the reason it wasn't filling is cause it was already full... I have no leak.. What was happening was there was a problem in the connection of the wiring the the magnetic clutch, so compressor was actually never kicking on. I unplugged this, tested it out by runing a wire from the clutch wire to the battery, and the AC kicked on no problem. I then reconnected the cable and VOILA it worked, so it was just a loose connection. So money well spend on the recharge kit eh!! Oh well, you live and learn. It was still cheaper then taking it to a garage.

Now I am back to icy cold goodness!

Hi Ya'll I just bought this kit at walmart for $35. When I put in the gauge it reads a little over 45 psi before putting any in which according to the gause is a little too much and if its supose to be 21.5 psi then its way too much, so I didn't put any in.
My problem is I do have some A/c but its very weak and on HOT days ( I live in SC so its always hot) it takes up to 10 - 15 mins to cool my car. Should I take it to the shop and have them take some out, will this make it cool fast and more Cold ? Any Ideas would be appreciated!

+1

I myself just recharged my A/C about 1 month ago. Now, its not blowing cold at all. I am kinda pissed at this and I guess I have a leak somewhere.
I'm gonna try some stop leak next and I have 1 can of recharge left over from the first charge. If that doesn't work, it's off to a shop to get it checked out.

They should give you a sticker with these kits that say you put stop leak in it. If a shop ever does A/C work it will ruin the filter on their machine when they suck it out!!!!!
