A/C Problem

I have a 2005 Mazda 6i. It has very few options, but I still love it. I do not have the climate control, but rather the heater and a/c. There are 3 dials on the dash. One for the temperature, (blue or red), one for the fan speed, (0,1,2,3,4) and one for where the air is blowing, (defrost, etc.) I also have a button that allows my A/C to turn on, one that chooses whether i want to circlate the air, and one that does the rear defrost.

Here's the problem... I can only turn the A/c button on when my fan is on the 0,1 or 2 setting. When i crank my fan up, (to 3 or 4) the A/C button and light automatically turn off, and my air is significantly warmer than having the A/C on. If i turn it down to 0,1 or 2, the button lights back up. I know how cold the air gets, because my A/C used to work before. One day it kinda ramdomly quit working. I checked my A/C fuse, and it's fine. It could be some wiring in the dash or something. Help please. Thanks!

Do a Google search for "Mazda SSP 71". There was a Special Service Program (basically a TSB) to replace the Fan Control Module in the 2003 to 2006 Mazda6. This might be causing the problem you're experiencing.

I got around to a dealership and they said i didn't have any recalls. Anyone else have this problem?

Well tell them to look at it.. It sounds like its the control module itself. Im not sure but looks like you will have to replace it.

My one on my New beetle went out and it was 250 bucks

I really don't want to pay them to do it. They'll charge way too much, I might just have my normal mechanic look at it.
