A/C Problem after FMIC install, help its hot outside!

:
Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
I have recently installed a FMIC and had to bend the high pressue AC line ever so slightly and ever since my AC has not been working. It would not even kick on yesterday although after I tried a recharge kit it will kick on but be very lukewarm/warm still. One odd thing I have noticed is that when I put the recharge kit on with the AC on (like they say to do) it is reading no pressure or very little but when I turn the AC off it is reading more than enough pressure. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Thanks for any info I am dying here in Maryland.

did u kink one of the lines? ever since i put mine on (perrin) it takes it a few minutes to get COLD, its cool though wehn i first turn it on, but not immediately. i had to bend a few of the lines too to make the pipes fit. check for kinks...i doubt u broke the condenser

There are no kinks at all, like I said we moved the line like 1/4 inch maybe. If there was a leak wouldn't you hear it leaking since it is pressurized when I'm trying to refill it? And thanks for the congratulations comment, but that is not helping me at all and for all you know it might be something else. I did not bend the damn line in half like the Hulk or something.

you touched the AC parts and it's not cold anymore... the s*** leaked out, what's so hard to figure out?
bring it to a shop and have them track down the leak

not turning one since you have no pressure in the system.

I would start looking at all the plugs that you may had to get around while working on the install?

do not dare to try and run the a/c compressor without freol in the system..you'll **** it up.
also, check to see if you didn't disconnect the a/c clutch by mistake...

it should read a high pressure when a/c not on and a lower pressure when a/c on

also, when charging..make shure a/c is running and that you are charging by the nipple on the passenger side next to the engine

I had the same problem....

I ran my hot pipe close to my a/c line by the compressor and bent it a little out of the way. I also wrapped my the hot pipe as well, but after two months of use, the heat from the pipe running so close the the a/c line caused the seals in my a/c compressor. New compressor and recharge and I'm back to cool.

Check and make sure your compressor is engaged when the a/c's on. If the compressor is straight, then you might want to check the o-rings on either side of the hose that your pipe was running close to. Of course make sure it is discharged b4 disconnecting hoses and b4 checking the compressor make sure it is charged. Standard s***.... good luck.

Thanks for some constructive help guys, apparently I probably f'ed my compressor up because I tried to turn on the AC when I didn't have any pressure in the system (although I didn't know that because I had no idea I had a leak). The instructions on the AC recharge kit say to blast the AC fully and then attach the kit, so that is what I did. I heard some clicking noises so I disconnected the recharge kit and turned the AC off.

So basically now I have two problems: finding why I lost pressure in the first place and then I most likely have to replace my compressor now. Great. How much do they cost? Thanks again for the help.

there are two pressure switches in the lines
one for high pressure(when the pressure is too high it shuts the a/c off)
one for low pressure (when pressure is too low it shuts the a/c off)

you might be triggering on of those...check to see if you have the right amount of freol and pressure

Thanks for the help guys, I used a freon kit with a dye in it and sure enough there were three pinhole sized leaks on the high pressure line. I am trying to patch it now but if that doesn't work it is <<gulp>>125 BUCKS from the stealership. Lets pray it works! Thanks again.

Yep, I doubt you killed the compressor. Just not enough refrigerant in the system.

I'll definitely keep this in mind when it's time for my upcoming FMIC install, as I don't want any problems there. It was over 90 deg. today and high humidity, and my A/C still damn near runs me out of the car on the highway with the fan on "1".

Oh, and while The Man's directness takes some getting used to, he's as constructive as it gets. He was correct in his diagnosis, no?

Yeah I guess you are right, he was just trying to help in his own way. I was hoping that through the help of the people on the board I would be able to fix it without going to a shop thats why I wasn't too happy about him saying to just go to a shop. Oh well, it's all good. Be very careful of anything in the engine bay that is rubber. We also snapped a vaccum line or two so we decided to replace them as well, they were as brittle as cheap plastic from the heat. I can't belive I have to throw down 125 for a stupid ass part, does anyone happen to have a high pressure hose for any cheaper?
