99 LX 1.6 Help needed

I have 105,000 miles on my Protege and I am starting to have a problem. While cruising on the highway the dash lights flicker slightly and the automatic transmission downshifts from overdrive for no reason. Then shifts right back up and does it over and over. It's possible that it's only happening when it's raining, but it's hard to tell because it's been raining all week here, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I know that downshifting is normal during acceleration, but this is happening while cruising at a constant speed(even with cruise control).

make sure the OD off button on the shifter is working properly, there could be a short in it.

Try taking off all the vaccume hoses coming from your MAP sensor, (small senor behind the pass strut tower, and the metal pipe that runs across the intake and the vacuum hoses that go to your EGR valve. Clean all them out.
Also take a small drill bit and clean out the port, could be all plugged up.
Thats what happend to mine with code P0402 back in Feb.
