8000KM oil change anyone ??

My car is at its 6500KM now.......and hasnt had one oil change. Its because the service rep at my dealer told me that mazda cars only need maintance and oil change every 8000km.........
And I am getting my first 2 maintence free, so I just didn't want to change it myself.
And I know many of you change your oil very often.....but I just want to know if your service rep said its every 8000km or not....
and I have no idea how much miles is that.......:)

halo WhiteZoomZoom

nice to see you again, i think now it's time for me to answer you question.

for every car, they have different oil change period.

for MP5, it's every 8000km, i just had mine few months ago and now i am almost going to have 2nd one.

so you can just go to ur dealers and make appointment for the oil change, just around 8000km and u have to change..

hope you r satify of my answer

now is looking for opportunity to modified my MP5

well....

since last October, almost end of it~

probably around 9 or 10 months~~

mine is silver, i order a black one though~

but when the cars r in my dealer, they told me they r out of black one, it really piss me off><

haha, anyway, how about you, how long have you had your cars?

I'm sticking to the factory recommended 5k mile intervals. Anything more is a waste in my opinion unless you live in a harsh environment.

Maybe I'm just a purist, but I'll only go 5k miles if I'm running Mobil1 or Royal Purple... I stick to 3k on dino oil.

I'll second that, but would add that the very first oil change on any new engine (I own) is done at ~1500 miles.

I've never liked the look of 5,000 mile old oil when it drains, even when it IS synthetic. I've done nearly a million miles (combined on half a dozen cars) and have not spent any money rebuilding engines - Maybe 3K IS a bit of overkill, but it's turned out to be rather cheap overkill, everything considered.

Doing you own changes, it's less than $10.00 and I'm doing 33 changes per 100,000 miles, which is just 13 more than the 5,000 mile changes - You can't buy much engine repair for $130.00

I was told by my dealer that the oil that comes in the engine when new has some detergent additive and it shouldn't be changed before 6000km... I bought my P5 on February 25 of this year, changed the oil at 8300km. I usually run synthetic in the winter.

True. And assuming you are not trashing the engine from abusive driving, 100K miles with frequent oil changes is the best insurance you have of reaching 200K miles without any engine repair...

Sounds ridiculous to me (reminds me of the "no need to break-in the engine" claims of many salespeople). Almost all oil contains detergents. The oil of a new engine collects minute particles of metal "sanded" from the seating process. This is the same reason you break-in an engine. If you run a new engine hard, the pistons and rings don't seat as well, leading to oil-burning problems later.

I did my first change between 1500 and 2k. I jumped to synthetic immediately. While this may not have been necessary, since I live in a severe environment of massive heat and dust, I banked on it being prudent. I'd much rather err to the side of caution.

i took the car for oil change at 3000 km...and the second one will be 8000km...my car is now 8100...going to dealership tomorrow....but in my opinion...the first oil change is 8000 sounds so....um......i don't know how to say...but i think 8000 for first time is too much....
