5,000 Mile Service

Your owners manual has a maintenance guide and is a good start. For the 5,000 mile (severe service) the main focus is on oil & filter change, tire rotation and check all fluid levels. I would circle the items in your owners manual maintenance guide and request only that. Some dealers have a private agenda which will run up the bill significantly. Ed

not some...all.

they will try to upsell things to you, but with a 5k service they wont be trying to hard.

when you get around 10k, 15k and higher is when they really try to upsell things.

Remember that about 80% of what a dealership makes is in service and parts, and service advisors work of commission, so their goal is try to sell as much as possible.

I agree with NCZ13, whenever I take my car in they tell me I need to do a dozen different things, when I get it double checked it is in fact fine. You know they charge like $60 canadian to take your tires off??? How ridiculous is that? Bottom line if you don't know much about the vehicle have your local shop check it out before or after you take it to Mazda. and don't let them do work on your car you didn't authorize.
