+40 offset

I have found two wheels that I really like and the only drawback is that they are a +40 offset. I have done some searching and have come up with nothing on this offset.

Can someone tell me if they have TRIED this or have seen this. With the 215 it is more likely to fit and look muscular than a 225 which would definately be out of the question

you arent going to fit a +40 offset with 215 series tires. maybe someone did it with some serious modification but i dont see it happening.

it will fit but its going to be hanging out over the fender I think, so the fender is going to hit the tire as soon as it comes down with weight or a bump

not a wise idea

i pulled it off with style and grace.

i think iceman did it too but i won't tell the style because i'm waiting to unveil my car at end of summer when i'm done.

My MSR 103's only came in 18x7.5 with 45mm offset, but I have a machine shop at work so I set it up on the mill and faced the backside of the wheel 5mm for a 50mm offset for a perfect tuck in between my coilovers and fender. You would only need about 45mm (.197") to tuck your 215's like I have (probably even 225/40's). I have less clearance in my rear P5 fender than you do so I needed a bigger offset.

Do a search for Rishie's Fitment Guide on the forum for more info, .

They will guaranteed rub with a 215 tire (assuming 16 or 17 inch). I had +40s on my MSP so I'm speaking from experience.

dont drop it to the point where your tires are tucked in the fender. btw...what rims do u have?

dp10's motegi's, they are clean as hell! So would i be safe with the sportlines? it is 1.8 all the way around...

im alittle confused with the offset is it the higher the better..like i see people are havin trouble with a 42 offset.. would a 45 offset be worse or be better.. im not to sure exactly what the offset and spacing is

A larger offset number will tuck the wheel under the fender more. 45mm off the center of the width of the wheel. Too high of an offset may rub on the strut also depending on your set up.

OK i have the numbers.....the rims are 42+ offset wrapped in toyo 215/40's....do you think i can get away with that? i mean....the sportlines are on and i have the same size tire....no rubbing....i am putting the rims on this next week...if that doesnt work you saw you can machine it off?

im running that exact setup 17 x 7 +40 w/215/40 and no rubbing. but then again i have a 4-lug (more space) and i'm at stock height. its looks like it would work but be pretty damn close if i lower it so i don't think you could pull it off with a 5-lug unless you rolled the fenders

******* suck.....damn....i dont know what to do then....because the car is lowered now....well, i will make them test fit my rim since it has been lowered...and if it does not fit my tires will be going onto another rim (unless i can shave off a larger offset).....thank god i waited....

I advise against rolling the fenders because there is not much support there. One little bump and it will crease. Some tires are more square than others. I have Toyo Proxes 4's which are pretty square. If you need to face off the backside of the wheel make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing. It is very simple but you need to indicate them in properly so that it is a straight cut. I am almost certain you will rub with a 42mm offset with the Sportlines. It is an easy fix though. I did it with my past 2 sets of wheels. I like the slammed look.

Thanks man....one question though....how much would it cost...and does this also apply to all four rims....in order to rotate tires? I have the Proxes4 to and i also favor the slammed look. Since the rim is 42+ how much should i ask them to shave since i have the sportlines????THanks again...

ok, i see...hmmm....well i am going to get it machined to a 48+ offset....wish me luck...thanks all...
