3rd Annual Lime Rock Park Mazda Corral-Grand-Am

(shocked) Hopefully it's not for the Miata!!!!

Oh but it is. Remember me saying that 2nd was kinda funny? Yeah, it's about 85% gone now. Once in a while it will go in. Most of the time I'm 1st to 3rd. It didn't like the Autocross I did last weekend. :(

^ Yeah... to top it off, a truck threw a stone at my windshield. Now all 3 of my cars have a damn crack in the windshield. I seriously can not win.

There is one here in Worcester for 850 bucks but has 71,000 on it... seems alot of the 6speeds go for more than 1000 bucks...

Heres one with a broken housing but looks like the gearbox is still intact.

This one is packaged with the motor, might be able to ask them to seperate?

Thanks for the links. The one with the cracked housing is a bit of a gamble. Not sure how much I like to gamble.

It would depend on why the housing was cracked. If the internals are all in good working order (which I HIGHLY doubt) then there isn't a problem. However, if the housing is cracked because the internals decided they wanted to become externals... Well that guy might want to sell that one for scrap metal.

Edit: From that picture... I'd stay away from the cracked one. That looks like a losing gamble.

Phen... Can't you do a 5 speed from an earlier Miata instead of the 6 speed?

Just an idea.....

I can, and it was my plan for the time being... but rumor is the 5 speed driveshaft is different, and the input shaft on the 5 speed has a different number of splines than the 6 speed, so I'd have to buy another clutch. Regardless, it may be the cheaper option.

Wouldn't the gear ratios be a little better? If I remember right when I was riding with you, the gear ratios on the 6 speed were rather close together.

Yeah. They would be a bit further apart. I've looked into them. With the added power in my car, my opinion would be that the car would utilize the taller ratio a little better. I'm still researching it.
