2nd Annual California Protege meet.

can we move this a lil closer up north guys? that drive is going to kill all the northerners..
what about monterey or something?

Here are some pics I took of Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara when I was thinking of a Protege Meet. I think it would handle a fair number of cars just fine (a regular meet), but it might be iffy if we had a super big meet.

The first 14 pictures are of the beach, then I drove up to the mountains.

edit: I should be able to drive a fair distance now that I finally got an alignment -- my steering wheel actually points straight when the car is going straight :p

hmm i like ventura, but that is a lot for norcal people, what about santa barbara, can someone scout it?

however, if the norcal'ers dont mind makin the trip down here to ventura then lets do it! if we all make the commitment i think it will be worth the drive

9-10 hours?!?! Nope, I'm out. I'm a lazy so cal person. I got to Fresno in 4 and half or so. And thats almost dead center CA, 9-10 hours I could be in oregon...

Santa Barbara is a good compromise. It's about 5 hours for us NorCal people...a lot less from Ventura County, and about the same if not longer for San Diego People. But come on....the San Diego people are practically in Mexico, so do we really have to cater to them? :D

monteray is not 9-10 hours from so-cal, more like 5-8

It takes at the very least 6 hours to get from where I live to San Luis Obispo. Thats going at extra legal speeds. There is no way I can get to Monterey in 5 hours.

Unless we leave either at 1 in the morning, or something crazy like that, we will hit traffic in SD, then again in OC, then again in LA.

How 'bout Morro Bay?

I'll actually be up there on the 25th, the 28th would work well but its the day after Turkey Day.

The rock always has plenty of parking, albeit its all dirt but its a damn nice location.. I believe a few of this boards members have seen it before.

I guess us San Diego people are being squeezed out of this. Unless we get our car transporting private plane by then. If we can get a rock solid date, I'm request the day with a few days around it off. Then maybe drive up the day before and drive back the day after.

In all honesty, there should really be a NorCAL event and a SoCAL event. Trying to cater to both is impossible. Because SD is just too damn far south, and the Bay Area...well isn't all that far north, but considering the distances involved, we might as well be in different states.

So there should just be a NorCal event somewhere in the South Bay, and a SoCal event somewhere in South LA.

That way all the NorCal people (including Monterey, etc) can make it to that, and all the So Cal people (San Diego, etc) can make it to the other one. And if there are some REALLY dedicated people who want to go all the way down to LA or vice versa, then so be it. But trying to find a good spot for the WHOLE state is a lesson in futility I think. It's just too damn BIG!! :)
