$250 for a 7500 mile service !?

You dont need anything other than an oil change at 7500 if it is within your interval. I have 25k and have yet to let the dealership do anything to my car but an oil change now and then so they can at least see my car once or twice a year. Proves to pay off, they dont mind as much about mods if they know your car. Save the money and just get your oil changed!

I agree with him, and only get the 30k, 60k, 90k service done, but it has that bs on it too, but basically get your spark plugs changed and fluids(power steering, coolant flush, brake fluid and so on) changed.

my dealer does the whole service for $10 if i bring my own oil. they provide the filter and all the labor and do the entire inspection of the vehicle. ftw.

I just got an e-mail from Mazda saying that it was about time for my 5k mile service. I didn't buy a maintenance contract, so I knew it wasn't a freebie, but I called the dealership prepared to laugh & hang up when I heard their price. But they're not ridiculous... oil change w/ Pennzoil Synthetic Blend, tire rotation, & "inspection" for $60. Not thinking that I will be going for Pennzoil Synthetic Blend, but the price is pretty good.

Edit: Called back... $70 (total) to upgrade to Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic & still get the tire rotation & inspection. Most places I inquire about full synth service, the oil change alone is about $70-80, which is retardedly expensive, so I'm heading into the dealer on Monday. With PP or Mobil-1 going for $7 a quart at my local auto parts stores, that's $42 for the oil, about $50 with a filter. For the extra $20, I'll take the extra services & save my back from crawling under the car. (I have back trouble, so it's worth it)

I used to own a volvo, and every 24k km's they had a large service, which was like $600 . . . They did a lot for that money, including checking power steering fluid, suspension and brake fluid (jerkit). . . yeah, I got hosed . . . never again.

Seriously though, they inspected everything. One time they found that one of the oil lines from the turbo was leaking, so they replaced it, as well as the suspension end links and a bunch of other stuff . . . all done under warranty. I also ended up with a new transmission at 100k, for free . . . then I sold the car and got the MS3.

Now, my Mazda dealer tried to get me to fork out $250 for some goofy winter service . . . I said, "No thanks, just the oil change." I even brought my own oil. Walked out paying $30 . . . 15 for filter, 15 for labour.

250 USD is an insane amount of money for a routine service, that figure almost looks ok in Mexican Pesos, and you need about 13 of those for every dollar!

I also had my first scheduled service a few weeks ago, they quoted me the routine inspections, rotation and oil change, for about 35 USD (or closer to 50USD if you consider the dolar-peso exchange rate before the crisis). The only extra I got was an engine bay wash/detail for about 8 bucks, seemed reasonable considering it would cost a bit more if I went to get one at a regular car wash. The car was delivered on time and clean enough to eat off it.

I feel like I got more than my moneys worth.

I brought 6qt of royal purple to the dealer, and they changed oil / rotated tires for just under 30 bux. They routinely give me 15% off on service though, since i bought 2 MS3's from them. Anything over 60-70 for that service (their oil provided) i think is a rip off.

wait 'til you get to the 30,000 mile service BAAHH! You'll just bend over for that one.
also there are things that are required to be done and there are mazda/dealer suggested things which jack the price up real quick.

$130 for me at 15,000

So my 2008 MS3 is due for it's 7500 mile service. I call the local dealer here in San Francisco and schedule an appointment. I ask how much this service is and I get quoted $250 (they have a $25 off coupon though). I thought this seemed high and they must be doing some kind of service I wasn't aware of. The Mazda site says this service consists of oil change, oil filter change, and lubing the locks. Sounds like a hell of an expensive oil change to me.

Am I missing something here?

Plus I had some Mazda Cash that I redeemed. Balance was $60.
