My Mazda dealer keeps sending me reminders about my 22,500 mile check up. I don't remember seeing anything in the maintenance sechedule that needed to be done at 22,500 miles (except maybe a tire rotation).

Does anyone else get these reminders? At least they give me an oil change coupon with the reminder.

I get them from the dealer as well.. but since I don't drive it to work everyday, I don't have the mileage on it that it "should" have since it will be 2 years in Sept. and I'm still at 18,000 miles.. :)

Dealers

These dealers try to get you to come in for maintenance that isn't even in the manual. I just follow the manual and ignore their sales pitches. They tried to get me to come in for my first oil change at 3750 miles. Well, the manual says it isn't needed but every 5000 (and thats if you follow the harsh driving schedule). Just pay them no mind and follow the manual.

I think if you are even mildly mechanically inclined, you can accomplish all the scheduled maintenance yourself and save a crap-load of money. Even if you are not, do yourself a favor and take it to a shop of your choice to have it done (make sure they are ASE certified). The dealer is a complete rip off!

(mswerd) take it to your own mechanic if you cant do it yourself.

i never get anything from my dealership in the mail

additives aye? What additives...I'm assuming I can pick them up at Pep Boys for under $10. And don't they check the 27 points at 30K miles also?

scheduled maintenance after 24 months?

Mine is a 02 P5 with only 16k miles on it. (whitep5)

The manual talks about getting the maintenance done at 24 months or 30k miles what ever comes first. Most of the things in there seem to be milage related though and I am only at 16k right now. Should I still get that inspection done? It is a pretty long list .. but mostly inspections, except for spark plug & air filter that has to be replaced I believe.

What did you do Lisakay? It seems you have a low milage as well like my car.

Thanks everyone.

scheduled maintenance ... warranty affects

And yes... remember warranty issues if we don't follow the scheduled maintenance... Means I should get the maintenance done now.. (scratch)

I think Rosen Mazda in Lake Villa is a dealer I can actually trust to do work I need on the car. They don't give me B.S. about getting new stuff, etc.

Do It Yourself unless you actually have a decent dealer and want to pay the $. Follow the manual, ignore the mass letters they send out! Most dealers make way more $ from the service dept. (or rather than ripoff dept) than car sales, so i don't trust 'em.

Doing it yourself is great, BUT even if you don't by Mazda replacement parts, MAKE SURE you keep any and all receipts. Trust me on this. (2thumbs)
No no! Be like me and keep on voiding the crap out of your warranty. (evil) By 30,000 miles I had changed the intake camshaft, redone the exhaust, changed the flywheel and added a differential. They still fixed my faulty alarm system though because they had someone else with the same type of problem and it had nothing to do with the work I performed.
