215/40/17 with 17x7 42mmoffset

Is anyone running a 215/40/17 tire on a 17x7 +42mm offset on their P5's .

will there be any rubbing issues?

I did a search and couldnt find a definite anwser.

thanks!

yes, that was the first place i looked.

I just want to see if anyone is actually running this set up..

I've been to a bunch of tire shops and they all think that it will work..

Im run a 215/45/17 with a 40mm offset and it will only barely rub over big dips at high speed or if the trunk is full of baby strollers/groceries/stacks of law books (no more thank god!)/ or the average size body, which BTW is hard to fit with the sub rack in there, maybe that is why "Knucles" drives a Town Car.-2.7 degrees camber in front and -2.0 in the rear.

yeah, but doesn't the p5 have less room in the rear? i've read of people running 42 offset and rubbing on 205/40 tires.

Yes, there will be rubbing with that tire size and a +42 offset with the P5 in particular. The sedan can barely get away with that size as there is more fender room in the rear. The P5 needs at least a 48 offset with that size to work properly.

I've got 205/40-17s w/ 42 offset, and they don't rub, even w/ a bunch of crap in the trunk:

I have a '02 P5 with 215/40/17 with a 17x7 with a 40 offset(what paper/website says) I have no rubbing issues-even with groceries and stuff. The website is www.edgeracing.com and the rims are the anthracite wasp series, in the description it says 40 which I take to mean offset. I could have read it wrong but all I know is no rub and I am happy (thumb)

you'll be fine. thats what i'm getting for my summer tire package.

I'm running 215/40/17 Ecsta MXs with I think a +45mm offset and the tire sidewall in the rear is seriously 1mm away from the fender lip. I'm lowered on goldlines which lower the rear a lot though.

No rubbing

Sounds about right. Your tires are 10mm narrower and your wheel sticks out 3mm more. Say half of the 10mm of width goes to the one side and you should be 2mm farther away from rubbing than I am. So for 215 definitely 45 offset.

When i bought my car i was running 18x7.5 enkei wheels with 215/35/18. Used a baseball bat on the rear fenders and NO RUBBING at all... this is with 2 inch drop springs.

I switched up to 16x7 wheels and 205/50/16's with prokits and tokicko illuminas, and still no rubbing. All of you would have a lot less problems if you'd just get the ballz to warm up your fenders with a heat gun and just roll the bitches.

My only point with showing you all these pics.. is that the 18's fit with no rubbing.. just had to roll the back fenders. So 17's should be a helluva lot easier to fit with no rubbing.

im running 215/40/17, 17x7 +42mm offset.

If i have 2 people in the back seat, then they rub when im turning or going to fast.
