2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring Halogen to LED

Hey, everyone! I'm new here. I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring, which I believe has halogen headlights (they are dim and provide poor visibility during night driving). I'm interested in switching to LED.

I have two options I'm considering:

Option 1: Replace the current halogen bulb with an LED bulb. Would there be any issues with this approach?

Option 2 (Preferred): Replacing the headlight assembly with an LED option that has the halo design. I've linked what I'm looking at on eBay below. Would this aftermarket option be compatible with my model and reliable? Or should I stick with OEM?

Idunno about the replacing the entire headlamp assemblies but I did replace the halogen low beam bulbs on our 2016.5 touring with LED's. Inexpensive and great results with no issues. Plug-n-play. Much better illumination without being annoying to other drivers.

Thank you! That's very helpful. Would you be able to share the model of LED low beam bulbs that you used? My biggest concern is blinding other drivers with a glare since I'm guessing my assembly is built for halogen, but if you haven't had issues then I'm interested.

I too despise the roadway epidemic of blinding LED lamps installed in fixtures not designed for them! When I installed these, I had Mrs. Hyflyer drive behind me and oncoming on a dark two lane road to make sure our vehicle is not going to be like that. I think it's because of the projector design of the housing.

Diode Dynamics makes excellent products with a lifetime warranty as well. More premium priced.

Would you be able to share the model of LED low beam bulbs

Just FYI, I did the same as @HyFlyer for our 2014. The ones I got were these and (so far) work perfectly fine, with a good cutoff. Note the low beams are projector housings, so the cutoff is performed internally with a shroud. Any bulb should be fine.

Also note, due to the DRLs using the high beam bulbs, you cannot replace them with LED bulbs, or they'll flicker/burn out/not work. Your only choice there is to go with one of the 'bright white' halogen (filament) bulbs, but at the expense of a shorter life.

That’s the easiest/cheapest route, but it’s not always perfect. Aftermarket LED bulbs in a halogen reflector can cause weird beam patterns, glare for other drivers, and sometimes issues with heat or fitment. It can work, but it’s not guaranteed to look or perform great.

The high beams are used at lower power for DRLs. So, replacing the high beams with LEDs will cause flickering, possibly codes, and other nasties. Replacing the low beams (presuming you have projector low beams) will be fine, though.
