I am seeking advice on changing the coolant in my 2016 CX-9. 2.5L Turbo. This is a super basic question, but before I start the process, I want to make sure I don't miss a step that could cause problems. This is my first Mazda, and there are some idiosyncrasies I've not encountered before.
We purchased it used, and I am changing all fluids. I tested the coolant, and it tests as very good, but I want to change it to make sure it has FL22 and is fresh. I note the full radiator doesn't like to accept even small amounts of coolant when I do my basic coolant test due to a small fill opening with a 90-degree elbow, followed by an extended fill tube. Before I replace the coolant, what are some suggestions and or potential pitfalls to this process? My other cars are much more straightforward.
1. I think a small funnel with a flex hose would help add fluid
2. I'm not sure about what percentage of the coolant capacity I'll be changing with a simple drain and fill. I'd like to clear all the old coolant out.
3. What are some ideas and pitfalls to avoid when doing a complete flush? Thanks for your help.
