2016 CX-5 Sport Drive belt and Hydraulic tensioner replaced

:
2016 Mazda CX-5 Sport
Last December my mechanic replaced the leaking hydraulic tensioner and serpentine belt on my CX-5 sport at about 64k miles with Mazda parts. He did not replace the water pump belt. So, at 75k when I have to get my spark plugs changed, I am going to ask him to change out the water pump belt.

Does the water pump belt have to be a Mazda branded one or can I use any other brand for the water pump belt?

I used a Gates on mine (bought from Amazon. It was a b**** to get on... someone said the aftermarket ones might be a bit tighter than OEM. In any case, it works fine (and you don't care if someone else is doing the work :) )

So it's ok to mix brands of belt? Like for the serpentine I have the Mazda belt, and for the water pump I can use gates or another brand?

NO! One belt may contaminate the other!

The Mazda dealership where I go doesn't even use Mazda belts
