2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Revealed

That would be an awefully big coupe. What would be the point? Now a Genesis 4 door hardtop convertible!....... :)

It would be the same size as a BMW 6 series and MB CL.

I want my parents to buy the production version of this car when it comes out next year.... but with gas prices these days they want an elantra =..(

I used 20 dollars of gas just driving to campus twice in the loaner blazer.. I feel the pain haha.

The Genesis looks amazing though, maybe it'll have that system that "shuts off" 4 of the cylinders (I'm assuming just cuts the fuel injectors on one fuel rail) when you're cruising.

bringing this back from the dead. i think i caught two genesis test mules today on the 57N and 210W in so cal. both were camo'd as you can see. but they were being lead by a hyundai azera (all three had michigan plates). it's smaller than i thought it would be, which is a good thing. looked smaller than an accord sedan.

no front shots as traffic was pretty heavy and i didn't want to ram into the back of someone at 75mph. excuse the distortion from the camera and the absolutely filthy car. (it's 110 degrees with scattered showers where i live).

you can see the two mules here. blue and the silver one in front.

a little less distortion

The one thing I kept thinking was that it looked smaller than I thought it would be. Now that I really think about it, it was probably a little smaller than the Azera, maybe a little bigger than the Sonata. The front had so much camouflage you couldn't tell the shape of the hood and headlights, so I didn't even bother taking a picture.

hyundai has come a looooong way. My friend has had an Excel, a 1st gen Accent, and a 1st gen Tiburon and each model got exponetially better. My friend now has the 6-cylinder Sonata and while it is bland looking, it is pretty damn fast and handles well for what it is. I would be nice for them to stop ripping off other cars style cues, but their best looking cars look like other cars and thier ugly cars they came up with on thier own. This is a great looking car with a V-8 that is sub 30g. With this, a restyled Sonata, and Tibu with some balls and RWD, Hyundai could really turn their name around to be on par with its japanese rivals, and make the USA the worst country to buy a car from. I'm sad that I even typed that(notcool)

Ooooopss.....Don't forget Kia. We still have a leg up on them.

Kia, Hyundai today, yeah, gaining a lot of ground in quality and functionality against all makers, but the lack of original design and stigma of owning one is still there. I would not consider one at all today.

But hey, same thing was with Datsun, long time back. So I say, I'll give them 5 years. Then let's see where they stand and how they are perceived in the market by that time. Possibly they will have more creative designs and models (based on the fact that good $$$ seems to be coming to their arks now)...

^^The Quality part came from Toyota because Toyota rented manufacturing space from Hyundai and part of the rent was that Toyota gave Hyundai their fit and finish specs.

Good info mikeyb, interesting to know. So they also took that from another car maker. Damn, I'll give them 10 years instead of 5 now :D

Hmm... Looks like a cross between a BMW and a Lexus. It's pretty, from those angles, I think!

I thought it looked like a crappy ripoff of a Mercedes and an infinite g35!

At least we know its not unique and takes it styling cues from some "other" manufacturers!

that can be said for most korean cars. It's how they can make them cheaply and attract more customers. The taxes over there are insane, it's acutaly cheaper by several thousands of dollars to import the same cars into the country then buy domestic, so anything to cut costs is encouraged.
