2008 Subaru WRX vs Speed3

Jerome, I know how you feel. When I started shopping I was the most interested in a WRX, but the MS3 won me over in the end. Unlike you, I really wanted an '07 but I was perhaps two months too late to actually find a "new" one that I wanted. I grew up in Michigan, so I know what roads are like in the midwest, but now I live in California. I ended determining that I didn't really need the AWD on a day-to-day basis. Maybe I'll go up to Tahoe once or twice a year where the AWD would come in handy...but if I was in Chicago I may very well have bought a WRX instead. But for my situation, I think I traded AWD for much better stuff. I got myself a GT trim with much more features than the WRX. LED taillights, Xenon headlights, automatic lights/air/wipers. To me the '08 WRX just looks too boring and toned down from past years.

^^ i agree that the new wrx is soft..i don't know what subaru was thinking...but atleast they did ( as we are all speculating) put the legacy gears in the new one which should help with the transmission problems in post year models. I drove a 5 door a few weeks ago and the power comes on very very fast as the smaller turbo spools up almost instantly...but then again i suppose that it'll run outta steam quicker than the old td04 but it does make some nice power w/boltons...there's a vendor on nasioc that reports getting around a 35-40 whp increase from bolt ons w/o a tune...this is good news as until the 08 you weren't even able to put a tbe on the car without going lean and screwing the engine up.

you can always get one at school! ;o

with that said, i know how hard it can be to go to school and work at the same time...the only reason i was able to pull off part time was because i had a cushy job workin for our CS department's IT group. you go to RIT, i assume?
