2008 Mazda2 (Merged)

Leave those to Toyota and soccer moms. We don't need no stinking hybrid.
Put a turbo/supercharger in it instead.

I would hate working on a hybrid, I'm one to never disconnect the battery before working on the car :D it would kill me (shocked)

torsion-beam rear? booo.

under 2100lbs? HOORAY!
Don't you think it's hard to put I.D. suspension in that thing while keeping roomy space for rear seats and cargo area? Also rasing the cost for such sub-compact car.

good point, I bet the strut towers would be kinda right up in that rear seat :P considering they're just behind the rear seat in the p5

i certainly understand the reasoning behind it, but i'd point out that my motivations might not match up w/ a major automaker's, or with the mass of the buying public. i'd prefer to see double wishbones at all 4 corners, but again, there's that disconnect between me and them.

however, i have no doubt mazda can tune a torsion-beam rear to work pretty well.

i'd also point out that MINIs have independent rears. ;)

And I think the Mz2 is going to be a lot less cheaper than the Bini.

Mazda2 = like 30% less money than a base Mini :P haha.

I prefer less parallelogram and more trapezoid :D

(TTL for lyfe!)

ok, you're right. the 2 is the greatest car ever; i apologize for even daring to wish it was different in any way. it's obviously ridiculous for me to consider handling performance more important than rear-seat room. and, of course, no small hatch has ever managed a decent back seat while having an IRS (i mean, except for the one i drive now).

geez.

I wasn't disagreeing with that at all.. I'd trade rear seat room for a better suspension design, no questions asked. I don't have babies or children or any rear seat passengers (very rarely) so I don't care about the back seats.. I hear they have decent leg and head room though! way more headroom than the front seat :P

they need this car. Example: I got a co-worker looking for a car, he's looking at yaris, fit etc. Mazda has nothing to offer in this class. This thing would kill over here, it's SOOOO much better looking then anything else. Heck, I'd take one for a 2nd car myself.

Ugh do not like it at all, i tried to see it from all angles in that video sometimes it stuck me as sharp but for the most part it looks horrible. interior reminds me of the 04 civic SI with the stick being on the dash. but to each his own

Hmm... I was quite partial to the Mazda2 when I saw the pictures, but after watching the video, I can't say I see anything in it. What was up with the music too? Was she driving to a rave?

Anyways, lime green is the shortest distance between decent and ugly. Maybe it would look better with a different package.

I agree.
I have a married friend, he owns a 350z himself and his wife owns a Toyota 4Runner. Both do real bad gas milage. So they are thinking about buying a Yaris for daily commute and weekly gorcery shopping.
I think the Mazda2 will be better than the Yaris hatchback cause it has 4 doors and the only 4 door Yaris sold over here is the sedan version which cost more.
