2007 Mazda3 iTouring Questions

I was wondering where I could get the specs on the car?
Also, Does it have sirius radio installed and all you have to do is activate the membership?

im pretty sure that there is a reciever that you need to have installed as well for the sirius radio... i may be wrong, but I bet its cheaper to go and buy the car reciever and put it in yourself rather than having mazda do it

It comes with 6 months membership to Siruis as well as the reciever, so thats like what? 60 bucks worth the cost?

ok maybe ive had the same question for a while... every mazda3 is said to be 'Sirius Ready'. Does that mean that with the added reciever you can control sirius through your stock radio, or does it mean that if you call sirius and give them the vin# or whatever they need and you get sirius?

i remember reading somewhere about mazda charging an ass ton for those recievers and then justifying it with a free 6 months subscription...

please help clarify this for me cuz i have XM now and dont really want to switch to sirius when i get my new car but will if its really free for 6 months

nvrmind, i just went to the mazda website and answered my own question... they charge $430 for sirius as a factory option... IMHO, thats way too much just for the convenience of using satelite radio through the cars controls... i paid $100 for the reciever (which is portable rather than just stuck in the car)and $200 for the 2-year subscription, so im already saving $130 before you pay for service

You can get that reciever for like 100 bucks and just install it yourself I guess. I'd rather have it go through the stereo. I cant stand cluttered car interriors.

yeah well if its prewired for sirius, you can find the same reciever that mazda gives you online im pretty sure, mount it under your seat and have it play through the stereo....

as for the specs on the car, mazdausa.com should have them listed somewhere on there

specs are on mazdausa.com. Any particular spec questions?

The radio is sirius ready. That means you have to buy the kit with the receiver and antenna, and get a subcription. You can get the OEM kit brand new for $305 from www.onlinemazdaparts.com, so don't pay $430 at the dealer. You could also go with an aftermarket unit as was mentioned. The downside is you have to have an external unit to control the sirius stations, the upside is you can take it into your house and use it there too. Incidentally you can't just buy a random sirius receiver and plug it in. The one for the mazdas is made to talk to the mazda stereo, and a random one won't.
