Wow!! Really! How did this happen? You could just fix it... easy DIY, just shove that piston back in, patch the hole with some duct tape and you're good to go!

for that matter, the MZR 2.5 will also fit.

any mazda 3 from 2004-2005 or mazda 5 up to 2008 will work. Any newer and you will run into sensor problems and oiling problems involving the vvt system.

the 2.5 MZR is just a stroked 2.3, so why wouldn't it work? there are 3rd gen miata guys swapping the 2.3/2.5 for the stock 2.0 - a 2.5 swap into a mazda5 should be cake walk.

I was wanting to ask a similar question. I also have a 2006 Mazda5, but with a automatic transmission. I also blew my engine and was looking for a replacement engine. Are there any engines in Europe that will also be able to swap in?

No disrespect to anybody who blew their engines, but I am truly curious how it happened? Did you run out of oil, did you redline it regulary, did you puncture the oil pan? How did it happen? It's really hard to blow an engine, but it's interesting to know how it happens.

I guess I stepped away for too long on this one. This answers what I needed to know- the manuals should swap between each other then.

I can tell you from experiance that this can happen driving in a Puddle less than 6 inches deep. We had a drain pluged on a road I was very familliar with. Driving slowly thru the puddle that my Honda Accord never had an issue even when the water was much higher, the Five just died! No sputering no jerking, just stopped dead. Checked under the hood right away. The aircleaner was soaked, dip stick showed no water in the Oil. Bad news the Oil was in the water. Number two connecting rod went thru the front of the block! Anyways my Insurance Co treated me very well, told me on the phone don't worry we call that collision with water, and never even effected my rates. About $6000.00 was the bill they paid.

I did discover that a low milage 2010 mazda 5Mt unit will fit with moving around some of the electronic moduals. But in the end I let my Mechanic source a low milage 07 Mt for it. The newer engine has made all the same funny noises as the orig. engine and has been excelllent over the last two years. Still love the Mazda 5 !!! P.S. all you modders out there, Still want to Lower this puppy?
