I have a 2003 p5 3 months Old not much Mileage on it yet, to things that just started happening, the first one is the brakes make noise the first few min of driving after that there fine, is that ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:place>Normal? I hope not, the second thing I just noticed is that when I have the car in park and start it up and Pump the brakes I hear a clicking noise from the gear shifter area, I have a Manu mantic is it called and it does not make the noise when in gear just in park.

Thanks for reading

The noise with the brakes the first few minutes of driving is surface rust on the rotors getting cleaned off and the clicking noise you are hearing is the shiftlock actuator releasing. Both are completely normal and you have nothing to worry about.

I found this on the brakes tsb,

Some customers may experience rear brake noise and/or dragging rear
brake pads due to the accumulation of rust on the rear brake mounting
supports.

Repair Procedure
When you encounter this concern, replace rear brake pads with improved
parts and remove rust from caliper supports. The brake pads have been
modified to increase the clearance between pads and mounting supports
from 0.15-0.80 to 0.32-0.8 New Part No. BKYT-26-43ZB (Rear Brake Pads with Hardware)

Question is that the s/n of the part ? or car to find out if I can get that Repair done, thanks again

Those numbers have to do with the vin#.(the last eight digits) They will only do that bulletin if it is a verifiable concern. I dont think that is your problem so they probably are going to tell you the car is operating normally. If that was your problem you would be hearing the grinding pretty much constantly not just the first few times you brake. Like i said im pretty sure its just the surface rust on the rotors getting cleaned off which is totally different than what this bulletin is for. The rotors on the p5 are notorious for rusting quickly. I actually work at a dealership and i can wash my car on my lunch hour and by the time i leave for work you can physically see the rotors have begun to rust by the time i leave. Just one of those annoying quirks.

If that is Normal, Is there anything You can do about it ? Spray something on it or such ? as its not the best Feeling Knowing you have to live with it as its annoying and Its not like its a cheap Car.

About the only way i know of would be to swap out the rotors for something else. You could always try complaining to the dealer or mazda but i doubt you will get very far.

u know my car makes that brake noise too and its very annoying..it must be rust i guess

Just got back from the Dealer they machined down the rotors and cleaned them and adjusted them, so far so good,
