1999 Corvette vs 2000 S2000

Vette, the S2K just says "Gay" for some reason.

Not to mention the Vette just looks 1000 times better. POwer difference is obvious.

Yep like the Vette more.
The S2K's are nice and extremely capable road course cars, but still like the Vettes for everyday useable stock power.

Firstly, I drive a Miata and a Probe - do you think having a 'Gay' car bothers me? :)

Secondly, while power difference is obvious, 'performance' differences are not so obvious.

C5 - mid-low 13s in the 1/4 mile
S2k - Low 14s

S2k + SC = Same price as vette, AND similiar 1/4 mile times.

On a road course? I'm sure a ~stock S2K would give a C5 a good run.

But more than hard numbers, there is something 'fun' about a lightweight convertible. :)

Think again, and address ALL the factors and the choice may not be so obvious.

(cool)

I don't think the miata is gay though. Seriously something screams homosexual driver when I see the S2K. I have not figured out why yet.

C5 can match the power of a supercharged S2k with FI in stock form. Because of this you don't have the reliability issues associated with FI and no wasted time and money putting it on. Also no need to upgrade the clutch and everything else. The Vette was 100% designed to handle that much power, the S2K was not. Add to that with FI comes more then clutches, warning guages and everything else comes up too.

Even with a SC the S2K can not envoke the same "thrill" of just being able to mash the gas pedal, worry free mind you, and take off like a rocket.

The Vettes are probably the only american car that holds its value so it can keep its worth for you in the long run aswell as the S2K if not better.

i don't drive road coarses but I's rather drive a vette in that envirnment then a S2K.

To me there is no comparison between the cars. For that $5K there is nothing that can be done to the S2k to make it a vette compeditor. By the time you get the power up the realibilyt goes way down as does its value.

Personal factors aside the S2K and Vette are close, or at least relatively speaking.
In personal experience I have yet to see a S2K run a good 1/4 mile time. This is not really due to the lack of power, but instead due to its true design goal.

I have seen many C5s run in the mid 13 to low 13 and even 12s.

On a circuit track the S2K will dominate over the C5, as it is a roadster at heart.

With the numbers aside you must take into consideration your true desires for a new car. Do you want a soft-top, small, nimble machine? Do you want a highway cruiser with great everyday useable power and still capable handling?

We can give you all our personal opinions on why, but it still comes down to what you want.

------------
Personal: Again I would take the Vette over the S2K, mainly due to power.

I'm not asking for me, I'm asking for the sake of discussion :D

I know what I want - I want a SC'd C5, Turbo S2K, V8 Miata, and an R1.

:-/

Right now I have to settle for a N/A Miata, Turbo'd Probe GT (which I never drive) and an Old Skewl Ninja ZX6. :D

"this?"

Search Autotrader.com, and you'll find lots of C5s nationwide, for less than $25K.

I could only find 6 for under $25K and they all were extremely high miles. I'd get a 95 or 96 LT-4 with less miles and cost less. Probally could run the 1/4 in the same times as the 99 C5.

Out of the 3 people I actually know that drives an S2000, 2 are gay. Nuff said.

That's retarded.

Seriously.

Out of the ten people I know who drive S2Ks none have chosen to be Gay.

But ONE out of the two people I know who owns a Protege is a childmolester. Thus, Proteges are child molester cars.

:-/

See how dumb these 'car owner labels' are?

Never. a C4 does NOT 'do it for me'.

Only SIX? At one time this summer I found probably SIX PAGES of C5s.

Weird...I'll find some when I get home from werk. it could be the prices are higher due to the time of year. I distinctly remember seeing ~40-50K mile C5s for right around the 20K range.

S2K....fast, good handling, Honda reliability. Vette's are fast and all but they start rattling and falling apart really quick....and a used one has surely been put through the ringer already......they are EXPENSIVE to fix too. I'd only own a Z06 Vette and only a brand spankin' new one.

His comment was toward my not knowing why I think of the driver as legitamently being homosexual most times I see the car.
I have known several driver of them and only 1 have known to be gay. I didn't intend that the driver was typicaly gay but that the gay has something homoerotic about it :D

Hey Darin are those 97 C5's that you are looking up. If you found 6 pages of C5's in that price range I bet that they are 97 - 98 vettes.

I don't know where you get the idea that the S2K looks gay  ...
