1998 Mazda Protege LX and Sea Foam

Does anyone know the easiest and quickest way to use Sea Foam on a 98 Protg? Detailed but precise instructions would be appreciated.

Why would using Sea Foam on a protege be different from using it on any other car? Are the instructions for Sea Foam bad? I've never used the stuff myself but I was planning to later.

I never said the instructions were bad, they're just a little generic. I'm not really all that knowledgeable about what is under the hood of my car.

prakashkamath over at iMazda has used the stuff. Might want to go over there and ask him for details. He's on here too but doesn't seem to be active.

Or you could post in another area with more visibility.

If you don't have a haynes manual you should pick one up also. They come in handy. It'll help you identify parts too.

I used Seafoam about 5 times on my old 98 Pro
I added about 1/4 can to the fuel, 1/4 to the oil, and the other half i let the PCV system suck up throught the PCV valve vaccum hose.

Warning: the car will smoke out the entire neighborhood!

Does it matter if you have a full tank or close to empty tank of fuel? When I use Techron fuel system cleaner they recommend a close to empty tank.

I'm guessing you used the side of the hose that was connected to the pcv valve to suck up the remaining 1/4 of Seafoam?

Can someone please tell me the exact location of the pcv vacuum hose on a 98 Protege lx? Also, should I get an oil change after using sea foam? I driving from NY to AZ this weekend and I'm not sure if I should get an oil change before or after my trip.

You obviously do an oil change BEFORE a long trip. However, make sure you check for leaks before you leave. You might leave the oil drain bolt loose. The PCV valve sits right on your valve cover and the hose is attached to it.

It was one of the ebay ones. I got it such a long time ago. I don't remember what the seller's name was.

I also had to drill a hole in it cause it had 4 hole instead of 3.
