18x9.5 +25 offset on a lowered speed6? problems?

@bova80 - even with the 18x9.5 +38? i was hesitant on the fender pull :/...if i get anything 18x8 / 8.5 they won't have a concave face.

this guys rims are 18x8.5 +38 and he's lowered with his fenders pulled. everything but the width is the same...it just sucks to believe that (as i sit here looking at a ruler lol) that the other 1 inch is making this impossible.

my last last resort is to go 17x9 in a +40...but then i'd have t sell me tires now because it would be bad to waste almost brand new proxes 4.

EDIT: and i found this on another mazda forum:

look at the 2nd guy's post...'zoombyu' or something. now i might be dangling my ignorance out again but he says he's running the set up i want with a 235 tire and it fits...assuming the speed 3 has the same room for aggressive wheels?

well i'm not going to track this car. i just want it to be driveable in the sense that i won't have to baby it too much. i know the tire life is gonna be shortened and i know that speedbumps = enemies. i just want to be able to have a backseat passenger without my fenders eating my tires alive.

you cant do both my friend. ESPECIALLY with this setup you going for. you'll have an hell of a time fitting it right, getting the right amount of pull and fender lip roll to get this to work on non-height adjustable suspension. If you were saving for coilovers, it would make life a bit easier and still retain the possibility of tracking. As already said, the fitment would be pretty damn pokey.

Nother reason you cant do both, stretching a 225 on that wide of wheel is purely for FITMENT.
a wider wheel for track is made to hold a correct width tire. for TRACK.
choose one or the other, otherwise save up and get coils.

dont tell me your decision was based on that picture.. the impreza has much more area for agressive wheels... it is not going to look like that on the MS6... its going to be like a lowrider on daytons

this is an 18x9.5 +42 wheel

how would one get thise same look with a 8.5 or 9 inch wide rim???

Offset.

The offset is the difference from the middle of the rim to the hub face.
A lower offset would push the rim outwards. a 0 offset is where the face is in the center of the rim. + pushes the rim towards the car, - moves it further away.

so if thats a 9.5 +42 lets say a 9 + 30ish? would give me the same look right?

thanks again for all your input guys.

in a bizarre turn of events i got to test fit my friends 18x9.5 +25 on my car and at stock height they fit and turn fully with no rubbing...but then again this isn't while driving. the bizarre part is i had ordered +38 from my local shop and it came in WITH the set of +25 so after work tomm i get to try the +38. i've been messaging another member on the forum and he says +38 is pushing it since it will be more inside the fender, but if it looks like it can fit without any lip work i'm game. i have no problems with rolling the fenders but the lip roll and possibility of cracking mazda's notoriously thin velocity red mica paint make me shiver.

i'm wondering if spc's adjustable ball joints for the front camber are a purchase i should make at the same time here? that would help with the offset right?

So yeah that is a picture of my car, and I can tell you for sure that my fenders are rolled but not pulled. I'm running on h&r's with a slight camber on the rear. No issues with rubbing or anything. If you really want a concave wheel you will have to most likely go with a 17x9/9.5 with the right offset. Btw the 3/speed3 have a bit more room to run wider wheels.

i didn't even know this was yours lol. those f-noirs look great on the car!

but you think that if i ran the same set up as you (18 inch wheel with a +38 offset)...but in an inch wider...i'd need to pull the fenders? (sorry for saying 'pulled' i didn't understand the terminolog when i posted the pic of your car btw)

to tell you the truth, its a good measure that if you go wider you should get a higher offset. i was going to get the same wheels that i have now in a 18x9.5 +42. that should have been just fine but i didnt really want to run into any problems. so i went with the safest setup. if you are looking for a concave set up you should look into the 5zigen ZR+520. they have the concave look without having to go with a a crazy offset.

yeah the only thing is that the highest offset is +38 in those widths...and with 8.5 the offset won't be enough to look concave. the 5zigens are too expensive...unless you're selling yours lol.

if i go to test fit them and they look like +38 doesn't work i'll just run stockers...i liked the motegi sp10 but they're discontinued...i can't find evo x rims at the moment...and anything else is too expensive.

F to the M to the L bradda lol.

concave ftmfw!!
and dterranova you gotta pay to play dawg!!!

in conclusion:

i just purchased the 18x9.5 +38...no fender roll...not needed yet. the guy that mounted my wheels used to rock the 'hellaflush' look and he said that i could get away with the drop and possibly no camber adjustment (depending on the drop i guess). the 225 stretch are okay...and i like the poke...it's not for everyone. for the record i'd like to state that i'm not a 'hellaflush' junkie because i just so happen to like this look...i.e. i don't know sh** about stance yet lol. here's some pictures!

*NOTE* PLEASE IGNORE THE HEIGHT I KNOW IT'S HIDEOUS AND I INTEND TO FIX THAT ASAP...

...oh and the 225 is temporary...235/245 coming soon too. drop is the main priority...then tint...then tires...then repainting the ugly gas cap >:(

Damn, now that's poke. I think that if you would have gone with a lower offset it would have pulled the wheels inward a bit more. I guess I can run a 9.5+42 and it would fit perfect.

those, in my opinion are god awful ugly wheels.

nothing against your taste, but i just have to be a hater on this one.

yeah I wanted a lower offset in a 9.5 but that's all they offered :/

and what don't you like zinger ? The style or color?...or both? lol
I plan on rockin the gold for a bit but I think white would be my next choice...i was trying to avoid the 'checkerboard' look and stay away from black...kids in my town abuse that a lot lol.

no worries bradda...everyone has their own taste. maybe when i lower it i can convert your beliefs...or go on a jihad against you lol.

so springs are going to be ordered on the 3rd...any preferences ? i hear h&r are great and that's what i was leaning towards...coilovers won't be until next year's tax returns :)
