17x8 w/ 50mm offset and 215/507/17...will it fit?

Hey all. I have an opportunity to buy a set of 17x8 wheels that have a 50mm offset. From what I read in the wheels and tires info thread, these will work with up to a 215 tire. I'm just curious if I can squeeze my 215/50/17's on them? Also, what tire size do you suggest on a 17x8 w/ a 50mm offset? 215/55/17???

you can stretch your stock tires onto 17x8, and 215/55-17 would only be taller than stock, which is not helpful

you probably want a 225 width in either 45 or 50 series

you could even go up to 235/45-17 if you're willing to roll your fenders (you'll be borderline most likely ok with 225)
