16" wheels on an MS6?

I'm eyeballing these steelies and winter rubber for Julie:

Can anyone think of a reason why they wouldn't work on an MS6? The total diameter comes out to be just about the same as the stock 215/45R18... The only thing to worry about, I suppose, is the caliper clearance.

Is anyone out there running 16" wheels on their MS6? Am I wrong in assuming that, if it works on an MS3, it'll work on an MS6?

EDIT: Well, I guess it's a bit moot now that they sold, but I'm still curious whether 16 inchers would work...

if they clear calipers and suspension, id assume you will be fine with the appropriate tire size too.

larger side wall tires for cushy rides in the snow/winter eh? :p

...Not to mention decreased cost. Steelies with 16" rubber are a heck of a lot less expensive than an 18" solution.

(But, yeah... I'm all about the smoooooth ride...)

Yeah, Dave. That's what I'm worried about. This guy had them on his MS3, though. That's the only thing that makes me think that they would work; the front brakes aren't any bigger on the MS6 (12.6").

oh, i always thought our brakes were bigger.
guess not...? if you can verify that fact, than you are good to go.

i know i have a set of 17" enkie wheels at home that barely clear the calipers... and my 17" oem 6GT wheels look like a close fit

I would highly recommend a test fit before laying your hard earned cash down....I know 16" steelies didn't clear my front calipers (06 MS6) when I test fit a set of winter tires and rims last season (ended up throwing a set of blizzaks on the stockers). My bro has an 08 MS3 and it looks like only certain types of 16" wheels clear his calipers...

jsut get some CHEAP-0 17s on CL...

that's the safest way to go..

I seriously doubt the 16s will fit... its going to be a waste of $$

Well, we'll all find out tomorrow. I found a set of 16s with Blizzaks on Craigslist for $100. I'm going to try them on tomorrow and see whether or not they fit. I'm not optimistic, but it's worth a look-see for one lousy c-note.

I think this will finally put this issue to bed:

16" wheels will not fit on an MS6.

I don't know what's so different between the brake setups on the MS6 and the MS3, but they just don't clear the calipers.

Ho-hum... Back to the Craigslist drawing board...
