11psi - Clutch can't handle the torque

I spoke with somebody from fidanza that assured me that the friction plates were not a weak link, and wouldnt slip.
No offense, because I don't know the answer, but it shouldn't be a big surprise that Fidanza says their product won't be the problem.

I'm very curious about this as well.

Dana, sorry to hear, that really sucks. It would be interesting to try a different flywheel. (Do you still have the stock one?)

i really hope this works out for you dana. i hope the fidanza isn't the problem, especially since i patiently waited for fidanza to make more and then had to rush to get mine drop-shipped to my house.

since my 7.5lb fidanza flywheel is going in today/tomorrow. if you do want to take jeremy's advice and try the stock flywheel, i could give you mine. if there is anything else you want/need to try from my tranny, just drop me a line.

doh! i do notice you've had your stock clutch and flywheel in your signature since the middle of last year. but just tell me if you need anything. sorry to hear that the spec stage 3 clutch didn't solve the problem. :(

I *DO* still have 2 stock flywheels floating around my garage somewhere.

I'm not saying the Spec didn't solve the prob...it could be a break in thing. Or maybe it just needs to be heated up before it grabs properly. I'll fill you guys in after I beat on it for lunch.

heated up before it grabs properly? wow, awesome clutch!(sarcasm) sounds like the flywheel to me, try out a stock one and see if it does it.

Interesting...but remember..most of the time, the weak link IS the flywheel, doesnt matter if its stock or not.

Or the disk itself.

i was gonna say this but i didnt feel like getting into it i just want kool to get he s*** right. how new is your stock fly?

I had to take the whole damn tranny twice because of a fidanza flywheel. The flywheel bolts started to back out, i guess i didnt torque them down tight enough the first time and the aluminum expands and contracts more than the stock flywheel.

I ran the stock clutch on my car for one entire season of harsh driving with no problem. If a stage 2 started to slip on your car in the first place and now a stage 3 is slipping, I would have to agree that the flywheel is more than likely the problem. Keep us posted.

BTW: The Centerforce street clutch is holding 12.5 Psi!

I had the ACT 6 puck in my MP5. That thing was sick nastey. It just grabed and grabed! I would go for a Puck clutch. It did make a little squeek everytime it engaged but ACT told me that was normal. It wasn't that hard to drive on the street at all. I personally like Puck clutches better then a disk. That is what I would recomend to you.

i also agree it has to have something to do with the flywheel.

I would replace it with your stock one and sell the fidanza.

lets just wait for him to come back after beating on it for lunch. see what he has discerned.

wow. it seems like you have had to do a lot of tranny stuff already, and still haven't done the lsd. i really hope it works out.

I got a custom 4 puck disc, made for our cars only.. One side metal the other is kevelar (excuse my spelling) Spring loaded, and it's holding up great after 10psi with 25k on it. Just let me i can have Superior Friction make you one. I have the prototype in my car as of right now.. the disc elimates *most* chatter and it barks when you want it to bark. It grabs like crazy!!! Get it from a National Merchandiser that drives 100miles plus a day, it's not so hard on the ankles.. (easy to push down)

Ok, back from lunch. Beat on it a couple of times through 2nd and 3rd gear...didn't seem to slip (but man, I can light those tires up at any speed in 2nd gear).

I'll beat on it some more tonight and see what I come up with.

i realize that, but i thought i'd throw that in.

I did had a problem with my CM stage 3 slipping after 10k, The flywheel looked perfect. i now have a ACT organic clutch, and it hasnt slipped yet up to 13psi, which shows it might not be the flywheel..

Bump for an update on how the Spec Stage 3 is?

I am gonna be ordering one for my engine build, and just would like some feedback on your stage 3 six puck?

How is street driving? Pedal pressure? etc...
