I couldn't sleep last night so I sat down and went through a Crutchfield to design a total system, with just crutchfield parts for under $1000 that I would buy If I was just starting out. Well its a little more then 1000 but I think it would do damn well.

Deck: Kenwood KDC-4019
- 3 pre outs and Sirus capable.
Front Speaker: Infinity Reference 5752cf
Rear Speakers: Infinity Reference 6952i, I have a MP3, adjust to 6 1/2 reference speakers for the P5
Sub: Alpine SW-1241 12" type S
Box: 1.25 cu ft 12" Q-logic box
Amp: Kenwood KAC-749S 4 channel, front channel to front speakers and rear channel bridged to sub
Wiring: 4 Guage street wires wiring kit
RCAs: 2 sets Zero noise 2 16 ft

All this came to $1015

For the bass hungry a later upgrade could be

another SW-1241 Type S 12"
dual 12" Q-logic box
another set of 16 foot rcas
10 ft of 8 guauge power and ground wire
An Alpine MRD-300 for the subs at a 2 ohm load and the rear chanels of the kenwood go to the rear speakers.
This will cost about $675

For the SQ minded a good upgrade would be:
Front speakers: A pair of infinity kappa 5 1/4 components which will fit in any 5x7 opening
60 ft of speaker wire to run into the doors
Sub amp: Kenwood KAC-729S for the sub
the 749 would be bridged to the front speakers only giving each component set 120 watts
Rear speaker ould be run off the deck.
This costs about $500

Enjoy

Save a little cash and get a better HU, preferably one with MP3 capabilities. I just drove from Ohio to Atlanta, and only listened to the same CD twice, once on the way there, and once on the way back. The best part is YOU pick the songs on a MP3 CD. SIrrius is cool, but half the s*** they play sucks. Also, if your going with an Alpine sug, go with the Type-R, not the Type-S, you'll thank me later.

That wasn't the point. The point was to design a total system for about $1000 using all crutchfield equipment. Ofcoarse you could spend more and get better results but not for under $1000.

Under 1000

Right now
JVC KDSH707-HU(250)-Mp3 compatible
Infinity Kappa 10.1(120)
Profile 400 watt amp(120)
Infinity Kappa 5x7 (100)
Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 way(120)
Monstor Cable Wires (50)
Head Unit Kit (40 shipped)
total 800
It sounds pretty nice
I am waiting on another Amp...that Profile was given to me.

there is nothing wrong with the alpine type s's or r's my friend has owned both and they sound both really good. i have a friend that owned two of them and they really pounded with 200 watts a piece if that going to them. he owns the type r's now and they are also a very respectable sub. now the type e's that could be a different story
