1.6 Intake

does the weapon R intake cause the hesitation problem?, i'm interested in purchasing the one being sold...does anyone know? and if the seal is the issue, can the bottom of the maf sensor be lined with a thin layer of silicone to ensure a proper seal is formed???

u may have to make a gasket with bicycle inner tube patching if the seal is bad, but i think they redsesigned the flange.

for thirds/fourths, the weapon-r piping is correct diameter, and should not cause hesitation.

My car has a cai/ram air that I made w some APC plastic parts (2.5"). The first time I installed it the engine had trouble to accelerate. I made a reducer pipe on the Maf adapter w a piece of pvc and foam sandwiched inside it. And since my Maf was already on the verge of death, I replaced it w a Celica unit, the best $80 bucks I've spent on this car. It made a big difference, specially w the ram air tubbing connected. No low end hesitation and a great sound at wot. I've had this combination for two years. No problems. It pulls better at med/high rpm, since these engines, to be honest, have their powerband.

yeah when i put mines on out the box, i had problems until i made a gasket out of inner tube patching. has been working for bout 2 years now. i got the celica maf for no reason, expecting smoother performance.

hey protephile, does the simota cause the hesitation issue?, if not, do you take paypal?, and can u post a pic of the intake please

that would be a negative squirrel. The Celica MAF is only needed with intakes that are 2.5" in diameter, the simota intake is 2.25" same as stock so the stock MAF works fine. However, the celica maf works in the stock intake fine too, so i would imagine it works in the simota intakes just not needed.

i still have the stock air box system and was asking if it would be a good or bad idea to remove the snorkle box for more air.
