02 protege 5 in going in for service

my engine is making a bad noise from the lower end of the motor! they think i have "spun a bearing"? dont know exactly what that means!!! but it is covered under warranty and hopefully i get no hassle!!! car only has 40K on it! any tips on dealing with the warranty

Um, does it do it when the motor is cold or all the time?

A spun bearing is refering to the rod bearing between the connecting rod and the crank. Bad stuff.

well the stealer is putting in a new short block! they gave me a run around of how the car is out of warranty because of my commercial plates! i have comm plates so i can park in town!!! then we went back and forth about oil changes and a load of BS and they decided to fix it?.. so i should have ti back by next week! They said one of the bearings was gone!!!

Now I have heard ALL the dealer excuses... OMG! Weasels. This is one area where Mazda is really lacking. If it was a Honda, you would not have got the run-around. Hope all goes well for you...

Crap... this was common on the 1999 - 2000 2 liter Miata engines: #4 bearing "death rattle". Hope it's just a fluke with your engine and not another TSB>>>>>

my dealer was awesome when i blew my motor. i brought it in and they didnt know what was up so they replaced it, no questions asked, there are still some good dealerships out there

Hmm, this might be what mine is doing with 30K. Sounds horrid at startup and while unloaded at ~2K. I better get the POS into the dealer soon then.
