I hate to even start this but its bugging me. First I must say I like the car and handling is great now here it comes BUT: I been browsing these forums and see people bragging about what kinda cars they are beating of stand stills and I find it hard to believe. I am no expert in fast starts but I tried Quick switching at low rpms and longer ones add mid and high rpms. I must say I havent beaten one car that actually wanted or tried a little bit to beat me. I am talking about anything from family sedans to modest sport thingies.I must say MX-5 is SLOWWWWWWWWWW at start and thank god its my wifes car or I would have been pissed "sorry venting a bit" Ok off to pratice my starts lol.

hate when pop beats me with his caprice classic lol

I must say you don't know how to launch, the mx-5 is as fast as ~110whp and 2300 lbs will make it. Besides, street racing is ghey. Take the mx-5 to a canyon, where it belongs.

If you're launching below 5000 rpm then you won't go anywhere very fast, if you're launching above 5000rpm then you're just beating up the drivetrain. Really, find something else to do with the MX-5 since it does not deserve your treatment.

canyon

ya guess ya gotta hide in the canyon with them (none here in NY all street), to slow for street. Ya bought wrong car gotta trade it in soon I guess.

too slow for the street? yeah because getting from 0 to 35 mph (street speed limit) in 3 seconds vs. 4 seconds is really important, or wait, you don't obey the speed limit cause speed limits are stupid right?

it's not even your damn car, stfu kthx

ok

Well its the wifes but in this world wifes car is also mine. "To Embarrassed to say its mine", real chic car like the little Mercedes.Don't get me worg great car for the money but mazda should of made it compete with the basic cars out there probably couldn't even beat the Honda Civic of a stand still. Now thats pretty sad if you ask me. Still say Mazda should have made it quicker way to much LAG.

Once again, its not even designed to be a drag racing car. I don't know how else to say it.

Arg, it is designed TO HANDLE, not to hit the 1320 in 13 seconds. I mean, seriously, for the love of god, ITS NOT BUILT TO RACE THE TREE.

If its a Mazdaspeed you seriously need to take it back to dealership and have them look at because something is wrong or learn to drive. Its only a tenth of a second slower than the RX-8, which we know is not a slow car. I have 0 mods done to my wifes msm and that thing will haul some serious ass and it has a lot of torque off the line. If you cant roast a civic then something is really wrong with the car, and/or I hate to say possibly the driver.

Yes its not a drag car by any means, its a track car. But the msm has enough pep to hold its own.

I drove the MSM yesterday and it was much faster then the msp... Personally i like the msm's tranny better

My wife and I ahve both a msm and msp and the miata seems to have a lot more torque feel to it than the protege in stock form. Granted my msp is modded and pulls alot more now stock for stock form I would put my money on the miata in any race over the msp.
