that's the million dollar question. I was set to install my MBC, but (after hearing the horror stories) now I'm going to wait until it warms up and install a knock sensor. Would it help to install even colder plugs (2 heat ranges cooler than stock)?

I wouldn't think there would be much difference in 1st gear. With a bone stock MSP, boost doesn't go over 5psi, when the max should be 6.5. Are you saying once you installed an MBC that your boost is 1st goes over 5?

I think the boost varies depending on gear due to the load on the engine. In 1st, the revs increase so rapidly that there's not much opportunity for pressure to build...and so on.

Thanks for the quick response. I couldn't find the T-fitting I needed, so my install has been a bit delayed...but hopefully soon. I'm reading that it's more risky (for detonation) to turn boost up in the colder months...so now I'm not so sure about installing the MBC until spring.

I got all of the other stuff I needed at Autozone, but couldn't find the 3/16 x 3/16 x 1/8 T fitting anywhere. Do you know if/where I can order one on the web?
