boost guage install

quick question, are you guys using the vacum line that comes with your guage? i have autometer for reference. it just seems so small, and in all the pics i have seen through searches i dont see the one that was supplied anywhere??

you shouldn't use the nylon line that comes with it. many people do, but i would suggest switching now and doing it right the first time.

except that it can easily crease, crack, become brittle over time and cause vacuum leaks when it does... there's a reason all of the other vacuum lines in your car aren't made of nylon

There is another thread going on right now about boost gauge install. Use 3/16 vacuum hose and tap into the short line that comes from the top back of the intake to a realay.

The other thread has some pics, one is of my install and there are a couple more pics other another. I ran the vacuum line through the grommet that the factory used to run the stereo power line. It's on the drivers side, by the brake booster. Look under the dash on the dirvers side, and you will see the yellow line coming in from the engine compartment, that's the place to run the vacuum line through. Then you can run the vacuum line to where ever you mount the gauge.

just go to autozone or whatever and they have vacuum hose, it's nice and cheap. you'll also probably need a fitting to go to the back of the gauge since it will be a different OD than the nylon, just bring the gauge with you and try to figure something out. when i did it there was a reducer that fit over the threads and inside of the vacuum hose and i just used liquid teflon and it sealed just fine.

I have an autometer boost guage...and used that tough vaccum line that they supplied!

It will be fine..as long as you don't put it in a place that will cause it to mess up!

But it would be a good idea..to upgrade the line...

This is the first I have ever heard about a vaccum port on the intercooler. I wonder why noone else ever mentioned using that...and by the way, this post should go under appearance section because you can see them.

Sorry only found out about this site this week.Never thaugt about it and as you can see I drive an eclipse.But I do have a red PR5. but my stepdauhter drives it.It has a MSP front wind split on it.But I really can't think of any other scerets. Except to take the pipeing off easier was aheat gun to heat the joint. But wacth how long you apply heat it don't take much to melt one. I know I melted two upper pipes or the turbo to intercooler pipe. Hope that helps.

I got all of the other stuff I needed at Autozone, but couldn't find the 3/16 x 3/16 x 1/8 T fitting anywhere. Do you know if/where I can order one on the web?
