Today at work

.... the worst thing happened at work today. Its about 4:30. look out the window of my work and notice some smoke.... I quickly told my boss hey there is a car on fire in the parking lot... then i remember im parked right near where the fire is comming from. I have a few customers in line and my boss didnt want me to go out and look. Turns out it wasnt my car it was someone else that i worked with though. So i get done with my line run out to see it, and notice that im parked RIGHT next to the guy.... look at my drivers side and notice that half the paint is melted off everything plastic is melted (bumpers, mirror covers, light covers etc.) the fire dept. wants me to open my doors so they can make sure there isnt a fire on the inside. open them up and just a TON of smoke comes out but no fire (THANK GOD). All in all no one got hurt, at least 5k worth of damage on the outside of my car, if they cant get the smell out of the inside then it will most likely be at least 7k.

i have REALLY bad luck.

dude you shouda dropped the line and gone to see your car. To get your boss to let you go you shouda said "hey my car is on fire" he wouldnt have intefered. The bond between a man and his car is most important (thumb)

I agree, Your boss cannot prevent you from leaving your work area if there is an emergency, esp if something is on fire on company property. What if someone was stuck in that vehicle that was on fire and you would've been the first person to the scene.....
But anyways, that totally sucks about your car, I'd be soooo ticked off.
How'd the other vehicle catch fire? I also would like to see some pics. (omg)

I'll get pics up when i can, and we have no idea on how the fire started. The inspector said Arson... and i guess there was someone that saw some guys parked behind the jeep smoking weed about 10 mins before the fire started so... if thats so i want to kill them! but anyways, im going to take some pics today and they will be posted by tomorrow or tuesday.

whoa, that is bad. You should get the other guys insurance company to make you place of business's insurance pay half, because if you could have left to check on your vehicle, you could have saved them $5000+ in payout. Hell, they should pay for all the damage done to your car. Where any personaly items damaged in this affair? If so, wut, and of wut approx. value to you? (Mentally and $$$)

that sucks about your car, but remember it's just a car. 5k is a lot of damage. hopefully insurance covers it, but that's better than 5k in medical bills if something happened while your tried to save your car.

No personal damage thank god, and yeah id like my work to pay for it or some but that cant if its considered vandalism. And it is as of now because of what one witness saw (the people smoking near it 10 mins before it went up) so the other guy's insurance should cover it, if not then i will have to try and get with my work and see what they will do. Im not really worried about it cause i know it will be all good, just sucks cause i have bad luck with cars (dunno) .

Ok Update. i guess since it was considered arson the other guys insurance won't cover it. So i have to go through my insurance.... So i took it in the shop today and the guy is going to call me back with the cost and how long it will take tomorrow. Also got me a rental.... a POS NEON that has been damaged already. So i told my dad im taking his truck for the next couple of weeks, least i can have some fun in that thing. I will post more updates as time goes by and when it is finished ill post pics of how it looks post body shop.
