Just got a new PC for Christmas, an eMachines PC actually. What a pile of monkey s***! (piss) The damn thing left 3 wonderful stains on my desktop while I was setting it up, the mouse and keyboard cables are too short they're only like 2 1/2 ft long, and the front cover of the CPU was loose when I got it. Maybe I'm just a bit anal about these things, I guess my expectations are just a bit high. Here's a copy of the email I sent them via their "General Feedback" automated email system and a picture of the stains on my desk now:
I just received an eMachines PC (Model: T2596 S/N AIV3A 405 00268) and have some issues with the lack of quality and usability issues.
First off, after setting the CPU on the surface of my office desk (for less than 24 hours) there are now 3 circular stains (black in color, I'd be happy to provide picture to you in addition to everyone else I know) where the rubber isolation pads set. This is highly disappointing. I would like to know what this material is made of and what it is secreting so that I may be able to properly remove the material. I suspect you will have no idea what the material might be and that as a result of this I will get to refinish my desktop for this $600 paperweight.
Secondly, upon removal of the unit from its shipping container, I noticed that the lower portion of the front face of the CPU was dislodged from its "locking" location. It appears that not only did your assembly technician miss this step, but your quality/inspection personnel (if any) also held this issue in low regard. Having clipped the face into its final assembly location, the front face is now loose. So, in addition to your poor manufacturing and inspection processes it appears that you have fitment issues as well with your case.
Thirdly, both the mouse and the keyboard cables were far too short to reach the CPU in my office setup. Now, of course you will say that there is no way for a company to plan for its consumers wide variety of office furniture configurations. But, I guess that adding an additional 12 inches to these cables (as most quality computer peripheral device manufacturers do) would certainly drive eMachines out of the competitive computer market.
At this point (24 hours after receiving your product) I already have no intention of purchasing your product in the future for myself or someone else. Conversely, I intend to go out of my way to ensure that none of my family, friends, co-workers, fellow internet forum members, church members, and anyone else who might be in the market for a computer, will have to subject themselves to issues similar to those discussed here as a result of your substandard product.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding my concerns at blaxer@cox.net.
